Changing light cycle

I am in a bit of a dilemna, firstly this is my setup

Main grow tent, with

1 x 20 litre NFT tank
1 x 45 litre NFT tank
400w hps
2 x 125w red CFL
+ extraction/filters/heaters etc etc

Nursery room
1 x 125w blue CFL

I bring the babies on to about 10 inches tall in the nursery then transfer them to the tent which remains on 12/12 at all times.... The 2 tanks in the tent are ready at 4 week intervals, I have got my timing spot on, so I get a lovely crop every 4 weeks instead of 8. :)

The problem I am having is I wish to change the light cycle of the main tent so as the lights are on at night (when electric is cheaper) But how can I do it when something is in there at ALL TIMES on 12/12, it is never off and is never empty.

I thought maybe I could change the timers by an hour a week or something until they are coming on at 6pm instead of the current 6am...? Will this stress the plants and possibly turn them hemo.? Would I be better off just changing it in one go and getting it over with.?

I have changed mine an hour a day. (only give them 11 hours for those days) and switched completely over within 2 weeks.

Cheers for the reply NLXSK1, I was worried it would stress them and I would end up with Hemo's. ! I will maybe drop an hour every couple of days then. Rep added. :)
