Cfl's below plant?

What happens if there is light below your plant, is it bad? For example having one power strip/surge protector on the floor with 6 cfl's, and one hanging above? And is any of that not safe?

Nope.. in fact, I do this all the time buddy. It's actually good for the plant.. because your hitting the plant with light not only from the top and sides of the plant.. but your also giving the underside of the leafs on the plant... light as well. The more the better bro.

Good luck

peace.

Algag85: you can do the same thing with reflectors you aim properly to redirect the light back up that you already paid for. I bought some waffled lenses for ceiling recessed florescent fixtures at The Home Depot for about $12 each. I used contact cement to glue Mylar to them and aimed them so that they were reflecting the light that 'got away' right back up to the lower parts of my plants that usually sat in the shadows. You're not using any more electricity, there's no additional heat or fire danger and I got buds all the way down to the planting deck. You might want to consider it.

whenever light is striking a portion of the plant that is "green" the plant is absorbing that light. whether its the leaves or the stem photosynthesis is taking place.

using bottom lighting is very beneficial when fine tunes for your plants. once you get the right lights, in the right spectrum, at the right distance it causes a very definitive change in your buds.
