CFL upside down turn me round

I was wondering what is the best way to postion CFL

right now there just stright down light a normal bulb but i've seen alot of pcis with people haveing them sideways or on an angle

Surely having it horizontal would expose more of the bulb to the plant? With a reflector above to make the most from the light.
I'm just a newb so feel free to correct me.

well true. you are right. it would make sense to have them horizontally, but they don't have to be very far from the plants. actually, having them too far will make the plant stretch towards the light, and then they'll end up lanky and may not be able to support themselves with their stems.

so i guess a combination of reflectors and distance will produce great plants! :mrgreen:

place the bulb so that the largest amount of surface area is facing the fan leaves. on a typical spiral type cfl, put the long side facing the leaves. the socket side of the bulb gives off the least light and should face away from the leaves. keep cfls about 2-3" away from the leaves as temps allow.
