I need help with ideas on what to hang my side lights on. I have plenty of space. One time I saw a pic of someone using a metal shelf. The length that I need side lights for, is 6 to 8 ft. Heigt 3 ft. The top lights are hanging from the rafters. Just stumped on the sides.

ok, so compacts with metal clamp reflectors. run and extension cord down from the rafters and use a piece of string to turn the reflector to were you want.

Lol. Yes those are the right words for it, compacts. Are you saying to hang the clamp reflector from the rafters and tie with string where I need it angled?

look for light sokcets with a plug on the bak and plug them into a power bar and attach it verticaly... they have "Y spliters" so u screw the 2 bulbs in the sockets and then plug the other end into an outlet... u get what im sayin, its hard to explain as im tired as a mofo rite now and dont have the enegry to think and explain it rite now.... i gues kinda like a night light but for household bulbs.... get a bunch and sum powers bars

Just a word on the bulbs, I've done a lot of research on CFL grows over that past few days before ultimately deciding on stronger lights. I myself will be experimenting with CFL grows when I can better afford to take the risk of ending up with low weight. But here's what I found out so far......

2700k (kelvin) are better for the flowering stage (2700 kelving on the light spectrum, not 2700 lumens) The range to use is 2700k to 3000k

The proper range for veg is 5000k to 6500k.

If you use one set of bulbs for both flower & veg, you may end up with undesired results (big fluffy buds that weight next to nothing)

as far as some kind of harness, I would need to know more about the set up. If you go here https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/ it's a set of threads dedicated to CFL grows and there are a bunch of journals from people using all CFLs for their grow. I'm sure you can find good ideas there.

The wattage is ok, but if you're not getting the results you desire and you're sure about the placement of your bulbs, then you can go up to 55 watts safely.

One quick word, CFLs have to be placed as close to the plant as possible without touching it. As the plant grows you will have to move the lights, sometimes several times per day. I wouldn't advise using them if your plants will be unattended for long periods of time. And if you're using them and have to go somewhere for the day I'd suggest you leave the CFLs off that day and just use the overhead.

yep you got it here a few pics, all you need to do is push a hole trough the reflector for the string.
I'm kinda in the same spot as the OP... looking to add some side lighting and not sure how to hang it...

I just purchased a Brooder 10.5inch clamp heat lamp reflector (300 watt bulb maximum... I'm in the flowering stage, so I went w/ a Bright Effects 65 watt CFL (300watt equivilent).. 2700k, 3900 lumens... It's a very large bulb indeed.. I'm allready running a 250 watt hps for my two girls (about a foot away, overhead)... Figured one or two of these will probably do the trick but bought just one set for now...

Not a real genius when it comes to electricity and wiring, etc, but i was under the asumption the 65 watt CFL would work in it... Problem is, standard bulbs and smaller CFL's work in it, but the 65 watt doesn't work in the heat lamp...

Will this bulb only work on certain heat lamps, or does it not work with any of them?
