ok im almost 6 weeks into flowering and i dont see much growth in the buds, im wondering if i should,

A: use just CFLs for a few weeks and turn my hps off (400w if that helps)

B: add the cfls to my current setup (they are 3 45w cool whites)

C: just keep using the hps

thanks in advanced and sorry about the newbie question

My understanding is that hps is for vegging and MH is for flowering...SO..if u are using hps for flowering its prob not going to work that well...u see u 3want to be on the red/orange side fo the spectrum around 1500/2500 for flowering andthe blue side 5500/6500 for vegging..so if it not doing well im guessing that its that..all u have to do is change ur bulb in you 400 and u will back in buisness..smoke on..peace........

what are u confused about...ask the question so mabe we can help...and yes im sure.....have u heard about light spectrum? it ranges for blue to red.......blue is for veg..and red is for bloom, now if u can picutre it have a bar graph that starts at red and finishes at blue with all the colores in between so it would start like ..........red....lightred...orangish......orangishgree........greenishblue.....lightblue.....etc..now there are number in corilation to these colors red is the lower number and blue the higher number...red 1500-7000blue and all the numbers inbetween...so when the sun shines during the mid summer it emits blue light meaning in the 6000/7000 which induces veg..now when the days get shorter(fall) the spec colors change toward the redish side 2000/3000 ...hence the change needed in the lighting in you grow room.....I hope this doesnt confuse u any more..feel free to ask any quesitons .and Im sure we will straighten u up...smoke on.peace

Your very correct in this information, what u mistook was hps is for flowering and mh is for veggin. mh puts out the blue spectrum, hps puts out the red. I say more light, more buds. throw those other cfls in there on the sides of the plants, couldnt hurt could it? but keep using the hps as your main light, and cfls as supplements.

i use a 250 mh for my veg box and i fucking love that little thing. i use 2 600 hps in my flowering room, vented. them bitches stay ultra cool. hence the name of my reflectors i got lol. im thinkin about venting my 250. it just makes it to much easier to control temps.

you cant have "too much light." the only problem you will run into with to much light is heat. more light = more denser nugs.

Definitaly..If u have the lighting then use them..the more light the better use them all..I ahve one 400watt hps/mh with 8 cfl.....so If u go they ues them. MORE LIGHT MORE YUM YUMS.....

fatherhood... you're wrong about needing the right light for flowering

i've smoked wonderful bud that was grown all the way (veg and flower) with an mh bulb...

it'll work, its just not the best...
good growing friends!
take care all
