CFL+HPS Lighting question...

I have a relatively small space, and I do good using 8 55W 2700K CFLs for flowering. My question is:
Will turning my 1000W HPS on during the day 12 on an alternating schedule (1HR at a time every other hour) show a worthy improvement in bud quality/size?
When the lights come on I was thinking having the HPS come on for an hour, then off, then back on, etc. until dark....or some combination of this (alternating light to keep temps under control)
Would this give me enough extra kick to veg them a little bigger?
I spend most of my time on here reading. I have very few posts.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
