Dear Gentlefolks,
as I mentioned in this post http://rollitup.org/t/low-temperature-consequences.952918/#post-13890505

I am having heating issues.
Has any of you experience with ceramic heat lamps such as this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/110V-220VPet-Heating-Light-Bulb-E27-25W-50W-75W-100W-Mini-Infrared-Ceramic-Emitter-Heat-Lamp/32798685480.html?spm=2114.10010108.1000017.4.61b317dfYub5AK ?
I can not wrap my head around the concept. Does it emit a wavelength harmful to the plants or are the IR contained?ir emmiter2.png IR emmiter.png

add more light, also a heat source with the added benefit of more end product.

Run your lights at night, use autos?, properly insulate/seal, keep pots/container off the floor, etc......couple of other things to help cold temps

good luck

I have one in my grow cab they work great on cold days. I have it on it's own line with a dimmer switch hooked up to regulate the heat. The kind dimmer you use to replace the light switch in a room. I placed mine facing away from the plants, never hurt any of my plants. Hope this helps.

My cab is 3'x3'x5' , the bulb heats up the ambient air in the box real nice. The one I use is 150w. I used a ceramic socket in case the end of the bulb got hot. I use a 250w hps with a cool tube, so I don't get much heat in my cab on those cold nights.

Dear Growdad,
I thank you for your reply. I do worry that this bulb emits IR wave. No site nor vendor could prove otherwise. IR poking the girls during there sleep could potential turn them sour and unlovable.
I tested one encased in a aluminum can. the heat got so high that the cable melted and killed the electricity...
I am back to the small 1000w heater solution.
The new issue is to find a way to keep it out of the tent and blow the hot air inside. the diameter of the heater is roughly 8 inches. I need a reducer find/build a device to reduce the diam.

Heatingly yours,
M

I made a bracket out of sheet metal in the shape of an L,and drilled a hole on one side of the L to stick the wire through. Then I mounted it to the wall, with the other part of the bracket on the side of the bulb.that way the bulb doesn't touch the side of the wall. You can put two screws in the ceramic light socket to hold it on the the bracket. The blub can't be enclosed or it will over heat.your trying warm up the ambient air in the enclosed area, not direct the heat at your plants. If you want I can send you a pic? I grow out of a 3' x 3' x 5' wood grow cab.those bulbs should not give off any light at all, they perfect when the lights are off and you need it warm.

What I understand the bulb has a heating element in side, the kind you would find in a electric oven. I've ever had a plant turn Hermie or die on me. They clam to give off some infrared light,if you point it away from you plants they should be fine.

If you don't trust the bulb use one of those electric radiant heater, just make Shure you put tape on the power switch to block out the light. They work real good in a small room. d748fff5-eb02-4b7b-add5-bcbf8a9e46dc_1.40449baaf33698eb0982f7cb1c0ad567.jpeg

Dear Growdad54, Thank you for your help! I purchased two electric space heaters. the kind that fans hot air.
My concern is I would rather not leave it in a two by two tent. I need to find a way to keep the darn fire hazardout of the tent. unfortunately the diameter of the fan exceeds the regular ducts. I need to find a clever and easy to implement way to reduce the diameter of the fan to a standard duct size. Any idea?

Those type of heater have coils that light up red when heating up. They might Hermie on you when it's dark.
