CatfishBilly's 400w sog soil grow. 2011

7-25 put in 12 more seedlings, last batch for now. watered yesterday, the ones in peat got distilled only, the rockwool, 300ppm and the ones in the bad soil got 600ppm. Planning on feeding every watering after the two week mark.
Splitting my cab up tomorrow. double the grow area. nice.

Still yet to do for flowering room, get new exhaust fan, hang wall covering, cut passive intake from the floor.

Flowering soil (any suggestions?, i can find ff happy frog...but thats it. should i use that and amend some perlite, lime?)

oh, and i think i am going to go with 3 gallon grow bags throughout flowering.
So.. if 1 cubic foot = 7.481 gallons then, 12 plants @ 3 gallon a peice = 48, 7.481/48 = 6.42 cft of soil. 80pct of that is 5.14 cft of soil, and 1.29 cft of perlite. They come in 2cft bags so i need 3, and one bag of perlite. Does this look correct?

Oh and i wanted to document that all of the plants in here were from select bagseed. except one, which is a feminized cheese. cant wait!

Started the process of making my veg cab two chambers. Today i rigged up this...


A little dark, but its just a piece of sheet metal, wonder if i should cover it in mylar....


These will be good for veg i assume..


need to construct a backing out of sheet metal too, could do that tomorrow...


now that i look at it, it needs sides? might just not do that for better airflow....


O well, think i will really start on the veg cab tomorrow. Been lazy...

7-27 Veg cab is almost done, need to get 2 120mm fans and unhook my ac vent... but picture bomb time.

Just ordered some 1 gallon, and 5 gallon grow bags. Also a 6in duct booster fan for intake, and a 6in 450cfm for exhaust.


Oh yeah, found these to add to my veg cab, Mechatronics Model E1225E12BT 12V DC .58A Fan 120mm lot

Just need cloning gel and i think i will have everything i need for a while..

I always start a lot that way i can take the pick of the litter if you will... Looking for a strong mother, the others will go into flowering in a week to two weeks, while i am waiting for my mother to get large. That way there will be around a two week gap in harvest. (i hope) Thanks for the rep! ;] Happy growing.

So the power went out today, as it was 97f outside. Lasted 7 hours. As soon as it started cooling down outside, boom power back on... The good thing is that the temps in my cab were good and the whole time the power was out it was my babies sleep time, so i just reset the timer, and didnt peek. They are really taking to the early nutes in distilled water, 300-800 ppm(depending on age and if in rockwool or not) Going to have some monsters i hope.

Ive searched the threads and people say that using Happy Frog is cool as long as you amend some perlite and lime. What kind of mix would you use if you cant get FFoF or promix? I was thinking 80/15/5 Happy Frog/perlite/worm castings. Sound like a solid mix to use after the two week mark?

Got a couple bags of this today...



Mixed it lightly with perlite, vermiculite, and worm castings. I can take this stuff and smash it in my hands and it just falls away like sand... love it.



OH yeah, I got the paneling up in the flowering room after power came back on yesterday.



Still have to seal it, and mylar. Waiting on the fans i ordered then the room will be complete.

Wow, these were stunted at first, but damn, now they are growing... well.. like weeds.






transplant tomorrow, that T8 is just not cutting it.. Going to go for the 2ft 4 bulb T5 high output next.

Transplanted them into the new soil, "weeded" out some of the stretchers and small guys. Stuff i ordered should be here today.. kinda feel blah like today, here's a couple pictures.

couple are showing n def after only one day from transplant. Not sure if it was the seedling starter soil i used or the happy frog. Could be a ph lockout caused by me not phing my distilled water? Going to test run-off tomorrow night i estimate. Lots of growth still, I fimed two of them just for shits and giggles.

Tomorrow i finish the flowering room build and do a 12 hour test on temps.(I know its a waste of energy, but id rather not have plants in there if it doesnt work, which it should, since i placed so many back up plans)

How tall can i veg a mother with a 4 bulb t5 HO 2ft model? says its 8000 lumens, and a plant needs 1500-2000 L per plant per sqft right?

Yard sales and flea markets sometimes have some great grow cabs.... Oh.. and estate sales too.

Put the fans in and light up in the FR today. Without ac on temps were around 95f. This angers me. So i decided to run a test with the ac on half, power strip kicking off. Too many amps for that strip, going to put a single gang outlet up there and run the constant power on one side and the timed strip on the other, should solve my problem. i hope.

IM using three different Power strips, all from a dif part of my house. Only running 3 plugs per power strip. Just went out and bought long extension cords. ran them along the ceiling in the corner.

Yea, thats not the big problem, (solved with extra long extension cord) i still have heat issues. I think, dont really trust my thermometer. but in the shade, with no ac, its like 88. But from what i hear, since i am bringing air in from the outside, it has co2, which allows you to keep temps higher. I will monitor throughout the day trying different things.

Feel free to chime in any suggestions..
