so i built some of these carbon filters and they turned out pretty good plus i found some other cool stuff to go with it. so walking around my local menards and all i could find for ducting was some six inch stuff so i built these carbon filters out of that. also i found some six inch inline fans for ducting also so i plan on using these for venting purposes.

if you go into menards or your local hardware store just look for activated carbon filtering i found it by the air filters and it comes in sheets that you can cut out. mind you i did spend like $86 on all the supplies

I hate those crummy little homemade, mash carbon behind another filter filters. Hell an air filter for a car has got to be llike 12 bucks at least. At least consider Cannabis and Marijuana seeds :: HomeGrown420 - Best Homade Scrubber By (Sun is Shining) Pt. 1

This guy works forever.

Also DONT BUY PETSTORE CARBON. Petstore activated carbon is expensive and iv heard it isnt the best quality. You can get nasty activated carbon on ebay. A lifetime supply for 25 bucks with a free 5 gal bucket.

so wouldnt that be the same thing as my filter? same design and same general internals

it looks liek the same idea behind the home made? get a pantyhose/bag, oput the carbon in, find a way to put it infront of air, and lett it flow.

Huge difference in the way an inline verses a terminal filter works. Sunisshinings filter has a chamber that is filled with air and that overpressure causes an even flow of air out the cylinder of carbon. In addition of being of greater volume and thus handling more airflow at less resistence, it allows air to move through the carbon slowly allowing more odor particles to be captured. It can also be run with a lower CFM fan (I use the same 6" inline).

The big issue is air fissures forming in your filter. Airflow restrictions will cause air to be forced down the path of least resistence, this can lead to odor leaks as only a tiny portion of the carbon in the bag is being used. The commercial style filters are built to utilize more carbon at a lower pressure which will greatly improve odor controll.

i get what your saying but 250 cfm isnt that huge. Plus i have enough surface area on my carbon filter (being as its almost 13" long) that 250 cfm shouldnt have a problem being pushed through that area at all. Anything that isnt carbon filter is duct taped plus my 6" piece that goes up against the hole i cut has a seal on it.
