carbon filter capacities

Hi all!

this is my first post and i hope you'll go easy on me on this question. i've been doing a lot of reading but i would really appreciate some advice on my problem. my apologies in advance if this sounds stupid

due to the layout of my house i need to use two rooms:

2x600w hps
2x400w hps

as i'm trying to keep my budget as low as possible i thought of using one extractor fan:

1000-1400 m3/h (depending on prices etc.)

my question is what capacity carbon filters should i use for both rooms? do they have to match the capacity of the fan or .....?

Carbon filters and extractor fans should be closely matched in order to do the best job they can. Figure out how many cubic meters (or feet) the rooms are and get a carbon filter & extractor fan that will completely scrub that volume several times per hour.
