Just wanted to know do you have to suck air threw the filter, or can you push the air threw as well ? Will it still work both ways ?

considering that it just get filtered thru charcol i cant see a differance, but some types of blowers my push better than pull air? seems i heard that somewhere.

Im no expert, in fact I am a newbie, but I have done nothing but read these forums for the past week lol.

Ive heard and seen it done both ways, and both ways work. The CORRECT way thought is to suck air thru the filter.

Either way will work, but almost all fans work better at pulling air than pushing it, so most carbon filters are made to have air pulled through them, and may have a pre-filter on the outside, as simpsonsamson said.

Thanks all.. Time to get the can fan... Well i guess you got to use some green to get some green !!! Peace

GUy ....what a dumb question...a canfilter has only one end in which you can attatch a hose to,which would mean there would be NO way to Push air trough a canfilter cause there would be no where for it to blow out from since there is only one end to it...lol..you have to suck the air through it.

Wow... What a dumb response.. You should at least get your facts straight before attempting to flame someone with an actual question.. Of course you can push air through a carbon filter, it flows through the same way that it wouldf if you were to suck air through it.

Are you sure you understand how a CF works? :bigjoint:

On the contrary, I pushed air through mine for months before I figured out a way to mount it in my room. It filters the smell just as well either way, but the fan seems a bit less restricted now.
If there was nowhere for the air to blow out from, how would the air get in when you suck through it?

Good call, I am doing the same thing. Im trying to figure out a way to mount my canfilter.. so for the time being I wanted to push the air threw instead of pulling...
Yea im not sure if that guy knows his facts on the way a carbon filter works like Giant said... thanks again !!!! Happy Growing ;-)

I just hooked up my filter so that the air is pushing threw instead of sucking threw. It's working great thanks again all !!!!

Hey i got a question do you have your can fan exhaust separate from your light exhaust?
No, I only have one fan for my exhaust and filter... It's been working out great for me. I have it so that my fan is sucking threw my reflector and pushing threw the filter in another room... :peace:

For real cuz i just got into flowering and mayn that shit stank but ima ordr a 4inch can filter with a inline fan that is rated 170 CFM i current have two four inch kinda looks like pc fans i bought at hydro shop both rated 110 CFM one for the light and the other just sucking air out the room. but im dont even kno if i need that 170 Cfm inline fan? what you think the two fans i have are good enough to pull air trough the filter? i would think of connecting both fans with a Y. I appreciate the help.

Well if you can spring for the fan I would. It works great.. It will def get the job done and it won't stress out your other fan's.. If you get the can fan your going to want to switch the other fan that is pushing air out to pushing cool fresh air in and use the can fan and filter to push the air out of your room. hope it works out for you ... let me know ...

I already have a ac hose from the house bring fresh air in
Well you can add another one if you want or just take it out.. cause your going to want only filtered air going out of your room.. or you can leave everything the way it is and hook up the can fan and filter in the room and not add flex duct to vent it out.. just let it filter within the room.. that works as well...
