Can you replace your charcoal?

My carbon coal filter is nearing the end of it's life cycle and I was wondering if it is possible to replace the activated charcoal to renew the filter. I have not found any information on this matter and I was wondering if anyone had an idea? Thanks!

Short answer - Yes!

Long answer - The ones who don't believe you can, are the ones who keep those companies in business!

Go to walmart or pet store. Find activated carbon in the fish department. Buy however much you need of this. If your filter is an activated carbon sponge, find a hepa filter in the fan aisle. Buy appropriate item.

Cut out/open existing filter, and insert or wrap activated carbon material.

voila! $2-$10 replacement.

If you are near a PetSupermarket, they usually sell a large activated carbon sponge filter mat that you can cut to appropriate under gravel filter size. This usually retails at $12 and perhaps 2 would work for starters.
