can you pull c02 from a water heater?

here is a water heater in the room is there aa way to use the co2 from the gas??
correct me if i am wrong but if the water heater has its bottom door open wont it be spewing c02 allover the floor 24-7?it vents the heat up out the pipe but what about c02?

That vent's primary purpose is not to vent the heat. The vent is to get rid of the carbon monoxide that it is also producing along with CO2. Leave the vent alone, it could save your life. The access panel on the bottom is for maintenance and pilot flame access, I doubt a properly functioning water heater will have any gases coming from there if the vent is doing its job. Unless you have a way of separating the gas I would find another way.

oh i had no intention of disconnecting the top vent no way in hell i was just wondering since co2 falls if it was falling out of the bottom and flooding the floor.

i imagine it is rising due to the heat tho.

It has to dispel all of the gases burned in order to meet code. Carbon monoxide is a colorless odorless tasteless gas that will kill you. You are right to leave it alone. The access door needs to be in place when the water heater is running for it to 'draw' properly. VV
