I've read lots of info regarding germinating seeds but i don't understand why i can't just prep my gowing medium and just put the seeds into that instead of 3'' pots and transfering them or the 2 saucers in a warm place, still have to transfer them to bigger pots, why can't i just put them striahgt into the 10'' pots? That way i dont have to mess them about...??:blsmoke:

ok thanks but why do others choose to mess about with their seeds? they risk stressing em and messing up wioth constant handling and transferring them surely?

you can pop em in soil and you can just pop em into the big pots.

the reason i have discovered to advocate germinating is because i dont have to waste time with a pot in my grow area on a dud seed. before they hit the lights and start costing me money i know they have sprouted. it also helps to keep track of how may days you are into a grow on a plant.

the reason that i start with a smaller container and work up to the largest i will use is so i can give my plants new soil periodically since the old soil gets displaced by roots, washed away and has varying buildups of nutes.

also, i like the growth spurt that transplanting can lead to... but i have my doubts if that is such a good thing.... sure is fun to watch though :D

there is no constant handling... they get put to germinate and then carefully taken out once they have produced the tap root and placed into the medium... one extra step ;)

water an empty pot for a couple weeks and you will understand why to germinate
