If i have my plants by the window to get some real sunlight, do i have to open the window, or can i leave it closed? (its cold so i wanna leave it closed). i believe i read somewhere that plants can photosynthesize through glass, its humans that cant create vitamin D when filtered through glass.

yea lol you can leave it closed. I'm sure it'll filter some light though, even on cool tubes it filters a little of the light out. But if you have CFLs (for example) you'll get more light with CFLs than through the window.

The vitamin thing with humans is the same as lizards, UVB does not get through regular house windows for the vitamin D3 to be produced.
Humans get the benefits from enriched food, lizard lights fix the pets, marijuana plants grow fine without it. Grow lights do not have UVB either.
Window plants do not get the 360 degree sky light, makes them lean if not turned, plus growth is slow from only half the plant getting fed at a time. Sunlight is the best light available, but a CFL spotted on the backside would assist symmetry.
