can i veg this many in 5x5?

Can i veg 16 plants in a 5x5 tent? The light will be 1000w thats dimmable to 400w(i think?). I would be flowering in a 8x8 tent. If its too small i was thinking of goin with a 4/5x8. Thanx for any help. Peace.

Depends on how long you want to veg for, and how large you intend to let the plants get (and what size pots).

I've flowered 24 plants clone-to-flower in 2L Coke bottles, so 16 in much larger pots in a 5x5 should be a piece of cake.

1000 watts in a veg area? That's a bit of over-kill. I veg more than 16 plants under T5 HO's that add up to about 300 watts without a problem. T5's work well up to about 24" before their lack of penetration starts showing....but that's when I would put them into flower anyway.

The ballast can run at 400w and that is what i planned to keep it at. Is that still overkill?

Id take the best 4-6 plants and take the suicide axe to the rest. More plants doesnt mean more yield. 4-6 plants in 5 gal pots you can get an lb with that light and perfect conditions. Now if you are doing a perpetual grow then stagger them a bit so you'll have fresh buds every few weeks

Thanx for the info peeps and yes im trying to do a perpetual.......but question .....Why stagger? and if im flowering in a 8x8 do you think less plants would get me better yield? if i have less but larger plants doesnt that mean a longer veg time?

these plants are 10 wks veg time, mostly because I keep cutting them back to fit my canopy....these plants will give me a lb easy when finished. IM going to go take a current pic, they are in wk 7 now....they were in wk 3 in pic
