Can I Veg for 6 weeks?

I have five white widow x big bud plants growing, they are on day 15 of veg under a 600 watt MH. Plants 1-4 are 6 to 7 inches tall and look great (very bushy). Plant 5 popped through the soil last, but close to the others, grew for a few days and then stopped. I have been working to save her for 2 weeks and it looks like she is going to make it. Problem though is that number 5 is 2-3 inches tall and really just getting started. She is a good 2 weeks behind the others. I would like to get as much yield from all of them as possible, which would mean, I believe, vegging number 5 for at least four weeks. This would put the others at 6 weeks of vegging. Will 6 weeks of vegging be ok for them? I'd rather sacrifice one than lose the four big ones if it comes down to it, but I would really like to save number 5. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Honestly, you can veg them longer if you wanted too... But I wouldn't worry yet. Still early. From my experience. I had 6 seeds, and only 1 popped. So I grew that one alone for a month until I had more money for seeds. Went and bought more, and planted five 1 month after the first. And 4/5 of them have already passed it, even though they are 1 months behind. So that one may be stunted right now. But could catch up.

Yeah man if you have the space go for it. Don't forget that once you switch to flowering and use the HPS they have a couple weeks where they go into a stretch mode. They at least double and in most cases triple in height and size in flowering. Just make sure you have the space and go for it. If you want to switch to flower at 4 weeks you can do that to. The runt of the litter will catch up. Itll probably even finish flowering later than the rest. Good Luck

Why don't you keep it as a "mother" taking cuttings, root in rockwool and flip clones into flower..clones are genetically sames age as mother and ready to flower accordingly..this keeps a "perpetual" going without ever having to buy more seed..buy once, cry once:wink:

Right now I have one tent and one light, so as far as my limited knowledge goes, I don't think keeping it as a mother is an option. I will hope it does a bit of catching up and give them a little extra veg time assuming they don't start to get too big.

I'm working with that same area. And my ladies are already well over 2 ft. So I'm sure you will be fine if you veg longer.

Shit I veg for up to 8 weeks space permitting. I'm never in a hurry for anything, and I like big plants. It's all about the space though. If vegging your girls for a few more weeks are going to make them unmanageable then by all means flower that runt too. It will likely produce at least some bud. I was in a situation like this before I had a dedicated veg room. I just took my runt upstairs and sat her under a 150watt CFL fixture until she had grown a bit more. She finished 3 weeks behind the others, but it was worth it.

you can veg as long as you need to. Top the girls and let her bush out a bit. Remember to only veg to a height about half or a little less than the height you want them to finish. You can top more than once if you need to.

Quick update. These things are growing like crazy in the last couple of days. I am on day 16 of veg and they went from 5 to almost 7 inches in a couple of days. The runt seems to have made a little bit of a leap last night when they lights were off (?). Anyway, I think I'll get to the four week period, and keeping in mind that they may double or triple their size during flowering, make a decision at that time. It is on my wish list to add a small veg tent in the near future so that I can start taking clones with my next grow, which leaves the question "can I use a clone as a mother plant?"

Sorry for so many questions, but when I set out on a path I try to be as good as I can at it, and I have found no better source of learning in life than people who have already done what I am attempting to do.

I always take clones from my girls just before going into flower tent . Clones from clones. No need to keep mothers. Mothers get big and take up room.

Yes you can use a clone as a mother plant. I have clones going from a plant that was brought over 15 years ago and cloned and cloned and cloned.
