Can i run an areo 24/7 pump on

i made a diy areophonic system with 5 6 inch pvc pipes and 8 easy cloner sprayer in each for 12 pots in each tube,im afraid that if the electricity goes out or my pump fails il loose the whole crop so i made some dams in the pipes like heath robinson did in his vertical grow,whats the regular watering timing in these systems iv heard 15min. on nad 45 min. off,but i dont want to get root rot from the water colecting in the bottom of the pipe so can i run the pump 24/7

the norm is 1 on 5 off, some folks use a 15 on 15 off i believe but thats better for cloning not so much veg/flower.. running it 24/7 would be more like nf with sprayerst..and running 24/7 the roots arent getting nearly as much oxygen..

Oh and u dont want ur roots sitting in low DO water, root rot will come for ya

I run my setups 24/7 as well and it's been working well for me...but that's just because I haven't yet secured the funds to buy a recycling timer.

24/7 works, 15/15 works better, and 1/5 work even better than that, just my opinion. You want your roots to have just enough moisture, the more air the better.

if i run it 15/15 im i still running a high risk for root rot or is that too short for the water to get messed

what do u mean low do water i have atleast a inch over flow in the buttom of my aeroponic system it sits on top of my resevoir with a air stone in it so will i get root rot cause i can see some of my rots starting to get brown i also run my pump 30 mins on 30 mins of

DO is dissolved oxygen, if u roots are sitting in low DO water (anaerobic) then yes u are running the risk of root rot..
So ur root chamber sits on ur rez? drill some holes in the bottom of ur root chamber so any excess water drains down to ur rez
And if it doesent seem like root rot then ur nutes could be staining ur roots, depending on wot ur using.

im only using the sensi grow 2 part so having a over flow inside there is a bad idea ? with air stones

I like your idea with the 6". I'm interested in running a similar type setup. Did you end up going with the green sewer pipe? What are the length of your grow chambers? I wanted to use black 6"abs for mine, but it was Wayyy too expensive. I think I'll end up using the green 14' sticks, like Earl used in his setup.

I can only speak from thorough research on the subject of running your pump. btw, what pump did you end up using for this system?

Cycle timers are an expensive little unit; about 80 bucks, but like smppro mentioned the goal here is to get your roots just enough moisture, the more air the better so its worth the price to be able to fine tune your system. With this timer, not only do you save energy but also allow your plant to "breath" o2 more frequently.

If you can; use the timer....
As far as water collecting in your system just raise one end of your pipe system up by 1/4" per foot of pipe. This will insure proper drainage toward the reservoir. What up with some pictures of your progress?

Try 270 bucks for timers in my part of the world moneybags, add that up when u need a few.. or build a relay.

$270 ouch! I thought $120 was expensive.
You can run a lot of pumps off a single timer. If you need a few with different timings, the cheapest option is to make your own.

Yea a cap timer can be bought most places for around $85, another thing that shorteninig your watering time can do is drop your res temp which is good for most grows.
