so anyone have any input on the title? i have a plant i just put into flowering and it could probably benefit from some LST'ing, but i just let it grow straight up. Will i hurt the plant if i start bending the stalk at this stage?? thanks for your help in advance guys, i've been trolling this site for a few months now and have learned alot! i am currently into my 4th grow, finally got a 1000w set up and can totally see the difference with the near double light output. :leaf:

as far as i know you start LST when the 3rd - 5th set of leaves have grown, not during flowering. How tough is your stem at this stage? You'll prolly snap it if you try to bend it!

i did notice the stalk getting a little stiffer as time went by but i was still able to bend slowly with ease on another plant almost as far along as the one i'm asking about. So whats the verdict? will it slow the flowering process? should i say forget it and try it on a younger plant? and as an LST'd plant grows the top grows up correct, so i would need to re-tie the top every couple of days so it grows horizontally??

I would let this plant be and start LST on your next plant. As far as the top is concerned, you can also cut it which is referred to as "Topping". It will slow the growth of the plant but not by much. Once you cut the top, two or more new cola's will result.

If you top properly you will get four colas instead of one.

head on over to the advanced marijuana cultivation forums and check out uncle ben's post on topping. Well worth the read.

thanks guys, yeah i have gone through a bunch of threads in the advanced section. i was considering trying topping and fimming on a few plants but just keep pushing it off. i will just let this one go and try those techniques on younger plants.

i lst til late 2week, just be sure to give the tops enough time to grow back up or just tie them1/3 down if your doing it late. only my 5th grow but this has benefited me, would recomend a net or chicken wire or something and let them grow up throw a net or som. around 2.week than equalize the height and weight support if they lean or if they havent totally straightend them out then you can still grow good bud and they will not fall coz of the net.....

little stoned hope i´m saying something usefull .......
