Can I leave a moisture/light/meter in the soil??

Hi.

Long time lurker.

I bought one of these. It says on the packaging not to leave it in the soil. But I found a good root spot and I don't want to keep poking the soil every time I check it, so can I just leave this thing in the soil, could it really cause any damage?

no.. you cant.. you have to keep the prongs clean and dry in between uses or it will affect the reading it gives.. cant tell you why it does that.. i would assume from build up of sorts on the prongs.. but i dont know for sure.. can tell you though it cant be left in the soil tho.. it could even have to do with the type of metal the prongs are made out of and the reaction it could have with the soil over time and possible rusting it could do... again.. thats a guess as to the why part tho..

I actually have this same meter i placed it in some miracle grow potting soil and the meter was bouncing at the highest PH i then placed it in some Happy Frog and then it read 6.5, so the PH must work some what. The Moisture meter works well as does the lumen meter if used properly. Good investment!
