Can I keep males with vegging mothers?

Hello all,
Noob question here. If I have a space with vegging mothers (with the plan to eventually start taking clones and flowering them in a different area), is there any harm in keeping males in the veg area with the mothers? I'd like to keep males for breeding at some point, but not sure what effect that'd have on the mothers I'm cloning. Could the males fertilize the female mothers in veg? If so, what would that mean for clones taken from those mothers? I've never had to deal with males before so this is new to me.

Not as far as I know, they won't produce pollen unless you flower them I guess

I have a male with my two mothers currently. And have been for a couple months. No issues. You would still be able to pull clones even if it seeded the pre flowers. Over the years I’ve taken clones from all stages of plant growth. All times doable. They just throw really wonky growth the deeper into flower they are.
On a side note the clones I cut that took the longest to go back to veg where from a fully flowered and harvest plant. I chopped it above the lowest growth to harvest and noticed about a week later it was still kicking. For shits and grins I cut the lower branches applied my rootech and they took.
