Yep. Trim away some of the huge fans, but don't touch the other smaller ones. You should also "top" her, by cutting the main stalk about an inch above the 4th set of nodes (pairs of branches off the main stalk). Then you'll have two colas instead of one. Its common to top multiple times, but you should just top once as a noob. Its very easy, and the plant can take it.
I'd wait a week after trimming and topping before going to the three gallon pot.
