We sure hope that Brian is right about our protections and that patients will continue to be able grow for themselves.
With that said, I don't see how the government is being greedy as it taxes this business the same as any other, or how new LPs are deciding anything, much less "reasonable access". Patients will choose you watch, they will choose shopping in their underwear all across Canada instead of dealing with a probable criminal for unknown weed. We get that the rules are changing again and this is catching most off guard including us. Hard to argue that the MMAR was working either though.
On the positive side the next generation will have access to a huge selection of very high quality, tested marihuana at much reduced prices. Give Producers a few years to get on their feet and expand their operations and the price will come down making it more expensive for you to grow it yourself. Unlike us many are too sick to grow it themselves now and the designated grower system is beyond flawed with an estimated 67% black market production. Should patients get their medicine free, at the expense of our children?
Production growers will eliminate the illicit market completely when it goes recreational in the next five years, (according to my crystal ball). No money dealing or growing it, no criminal element, not rocket science. That is when new taxes will be levied, not from the patients but from the potheads.
We want and need healthy businesses (LP's) that will put their marihuana and therefore their patients first. You wouldn't want to buy from questionable growers, just like you wouldn't want an unlicensed dentist.
You can't stop the new system, worry about what you can control. Donate to the lawsuit, write your politicians, we(wannabe LP's) are fighting for you in another way that will work, just not in the short term, unfortunately. Remember many of us are patients too, we get it.
