Cabinet Dimention Help

Hey everyone,

I am designing a cabinet for someone and I am looking for advise as I really do not know a whole lot about this.

How much room should I make if someone wants to grow 6 tomatoes?

From what I know there will be two 150w sodium bulbs cooled.

How far above the plans should they be?

How wide should it be, how much space between plants is optimal?

They want this to be small, but I dont want it to be too small?

Any advise would be apreciated as I really know very little and hopefully you all are the experts ;)

1. tomatos - lol. 8 sq ft should be enough
2. you;ll want a third 150 watt light or one 400 watt light to grow 6 plants
3. you need to have a hanging light system that lets you keep the lights about 12 inches above the plants
4. 2.5 ft by 3.5 ft long
5. for 6 full sized plants this would be 2.5 ft wide by 3.5 ft long by about 5 ft high for 6 30" tall plants
6. read growfaq and the stickies in each forum and then ask more specific questions

The size of the cab depends on the space you are putting it in.

Make sure you have a strong enough fan to cool the lights. I'm working with a 70 cfm fan thats not strong enough to cool my 400w HPS. Temps stay around 95 degrees baking the shit out of my seedlings.

In order to find out how far away to put the lights wave the back of your hand under the light until you feel heat. If its too hot for you, its too hot for the plants.

To determine size take a look at my cab. Its small, I think. Its 14x34x43

I recommend you do a search for the Cannabis Grow Bible on line and give it a read through. Thats where I got a few great pointers in addition to this site.
