FORT WAYNE, Ind. -
An Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge stemming from the discovery of 2,160 pounds of marijuana found hidden within 12 freezers inside a truck.
Fifty-one-year-old Martin Gonzalez Medina pleaded guilty in federal court to possession with the intent to distribute 100 kilograms or more of marijuana. The Journal Gazette reports Gonzalez Medina allegedly possessed between 700 and 1,000 kilograms of marijuana.
Authorities say investigators had been tracking the lease of a Fort Wayne warehouse. During an April raid there, Drug Enforcement Agency agents found 2,160 pounds of marijuana concealed in 12 freezers inside a truck.
Aside from his guilty plea, Gonzalez Medina admitted to maintaining a premises for the purpose of distributing a controlled substance. Prosecutors say that admission will be considered when he's sentenced.
