Bulb placement

dearest RIU forum members,
im using cfls to grow for my first time, planning on upgrading later once i get the growing part down well. Im using 2 surge protectors, with those bulb fixtures that plug directly into a socket, i have 4 cfls on each. my question, is that as the plants grow older, and branch out more, is it better to have all the lighting above the plant, shining down, or should i spread the bulbs out, so that more budsites receive light?
Grazie ragazzi! (Thanks guys)

if a bud is within 3-4 inches of a cfl, that's going to be a pretty good bud
so cover your plant in a blanket of cfl's, many growers do position cfl's in the lower branches

I get primary lighting above and then use cfls on the sides to fill in areas that need it. Two inches away from foliage with cfls is fine.

Definately spread the bulbs out. Ide definately recommend putting them under the canopy and between plants when possible.
