So I really like designing and building stuff like this, do you think it would be worth my time? Do you think people would buy them?

Well don't got the cash to start right now, but I'd love to. I just didn't want to spend money and time on it and not be able to get rid of it. I have no use for stealth cabinets but I love making them

Yea, I built a couple. Its cool.
Ya know, What I would do is see if I could sell it before I built it. Maybe put an ad in the local craigslist with some pics.
build it to order, shit you could knock one out in a couple days if you had everything.

You mean put an ad up with pics and such and see how many replies I get? Then tell them all its already sold. Just to gauge the interest eh?

I think I'll do that. Thanks

The problem I see with it, is the mark up you would have to charge to dedicate your time in doing so vs. someone doing it themselves. And obviously because of shipping costs it would have to be local. Go on youtube and search grow box king. That guy sold a lot of CFL set ups for a lot of money...he had quite an assembly method down and has a 24 part deal where he shows you how he makes them.

Dude just turn yourself into the Ikea of grow boxes. Design a fuckin awesome grow box setup with proper ventilation and prewired and all that shit, and then take that design and simplify it so that you can go to the store and put them together with as little modification as possible (so its literally a box no fancy designs or bullshit like Ikea furniture) package up all the materials, include an instruction book. Mark up the cost of the parts by about 30-50% and ship em out. Saves you labor and saves idiots from actually having to think of a layout.

Make like 4 or 5 basic size options, make a list of the parts for each and every time you get an order, go to home depot get supplies drill a few holes, wrap that shit up and ship it out.

i own a grow cabinet business. You need to make proper cabinets with professional tools and not garbage. Theres more to this business than putting together a shammy box. You need to design and build a proper grow box, and ship it so that it doesnt get damaged during transit. You need to have a merchant account for your business...paypal is not an option they will freeze the money in your account if they find out your having higher transfers of money. You need to do all the marketing. Its much more harder than it sounds, and building the cabinets are no joke, especially if you plan on painting them.

i plan on designing and producing metal cabinets with control panels. You have alot of competition.

I think anyone who's built a half way decent growcab, growdrobe, growfridge or DIY hydro system has thought of selling them lol.
To me half the fun is making them but I could se a market of people who are too lazy, or just don't know how to build one

Lol'd @ shameless self plug.
Also this is like Orville Redenbacher telling you not to sell popcorn. If you want to sell grow cabs do it. Build a product that you're proud of and shit thats streamlined and idiot friendly and be on your way

Man, your mind is your imagination, and your creativity is your limit. YungMune (www.growrelentless.com) has an awesome idea. But just because someone is doing it, and yea bro, it's hard, just dont get discouraged. Someone WILL like your style and design over someone elses and vice versa. I built a lightproof, smellproof 3'x3' GC for 30 bucks. I had a friend offer me 150 for it. O, it sits in my kitchen in-line with the other matching cabinets serving its purpose still. Start with a couple to see what you areas you need to improve in ( sealing, painting, construction technique, etc)
Just dont let noone tell you cant or its to difficult. If it was too difficult, they wouldnt be doing it. Rep to you both good sirs..
Happy toking

Here's a little tip. Dont show pictures of them filled with beautiful ganja, or go off labeling them as marijuana grow cabinets. Im sorry to say it will lower your sales market. The outside world doesnt understand ganja past the label of Schedule 1 Narcotic. Instead, label them something like, "Stackable Hydroponic Gardens." Or, "Indoor Herb Garden", and offer pictures of nice Basil plants through a nice PlexiGlass window. Every Grandmother will by it

People (most not all) are lazy and live for convenience. Your worst enemy is yourself and talking yourself outta of doing something. There is a site called ALibaba there you can find manufactures of items. If you want to manufacturer fine. however stay away from words such as stealth and pot as if you sell internationally or to a state that condemns such things you will learn about RICO statutes. I like the grow cabinet idea posted above like the cabinets you get for garages at the Homedeep throat. Volume brings the price down but as stated above Logistics or delivery is a big cost along with storage for volume. Check out SBA.gov in your area for advice from retired heavy hitters who give back to the community via mentoring. I have learned so much with my invention and bringing it to market, Grow on try it!.
