Building a Grow Tent!

What up y'all? I wanted to start this thread because I am about to build a grow tent and I want input on people who have built a tent and also inspire and help people build a tent in the future. So shoot me some suggestions and ideas and we can get the ball Rollin! :weed:

I've seen PVC used and it looks very nice. You can order special 3 and 4 way fittings offline (or you might be able to find a local place). Then buy the pipe and the more standard fittings at the store. Wrap the whole thing in mylar and there's your tent. $80 will cover fittings, piping, and mylar (or panda film as seen in the pictures I found below) for a 5'x7'32" tent.

What are you talking about when you say CIR? I've never heard the abbreviation before :o

The way the tent above is built is that the two triangle shaped areas made out of panda film on either side of the flood tray actually act as baffles. The intake is then all around three sides of the tent (back and sides). The exhaust has not been finished in the picture above. In the future it will have a 6" carbon filter on the inside of the tent ---> Reflector ---> 6"-4" reducer ---> 4" vortex fan ---> outside of tent. The filter and the where the exhaust will exit still need to be finished. It will just be a hole in the panda film which will then be taped and light sealed.

I'll post pics if I get any. I'm not sure whether the person building this will take any or not.

So can u go into a little detail on how this tent is being built and explain the baffle? It looks great and I would love to build one just like it. O and why is there storage at the bottom? Yeah so just go into detail so I can get an idea of what ur doing!! Thanks

I'm working on a little writeup but it may be a couple days. So far they've spent about $100 but they are doing everything right the first time around and not skimping on stuff. The tent includes Panda film, PVC fittings, 3/4" PVC, white duct tape, velcro for the door, and the screws to hold it together. This doesn't include the light or vent stuff or the ebb flow setup. The storage underneath had to be there to store the reservoir. To the right of the res will be a small clone chamber with 5 or 6 two foot fluorescent lights hanging over a couple of propagation trays.

u can buy a decent tent for 120$ but i would recomend a cab thats what i have goin.its beautiful and all diy.i got mine at big lots for 99 bux and made a few mods which are pretty easy.lowered the top storage shelf down about 4 feet.no height restrictions now.i believe in the pics its before i lowered the growing shelf and got rid of the lower veg box.DSC00593.jpgDSC00594.jpgDSC00597.jpg

And this is how its ended up... so far, its less noisey than a tent and contains the smell better too, its a good idea to self contain your nuits.. I see you did that, so thats all good..Any way I 100% bet ur going to stick with your tent making, which is good! I'd like to see how you go about turning it into a bud production machine, the skeleton of it looks pretty big, but saying that the house its in looks pretty massive too :) PS, I dont usually post pics without asking - sorry dude, but as with most growers on here - we're proud of our work.. I look forward to seeing the progress you make and awarding you REP Points when I see more astounding work :) - STELTHY

I had a cabinet the first time around and hated it. Too hard to take apart and move, too hard to modify, wood is expensive and if you are running hydro and have a leak the wood can end up absorbing a lot of it and growing mold. If you already want to do a tent, then just do it. $100 will get you a much larger tent than it will cabinet.

I'll attach a couple of pics of the cab I used to have. It cost 50 bucks more than the tent to build and it was 4'x6'x2'. The new tent is 60"x92"x32" so quite a bit larger. It's also been quite a bit easier to light proof since I can just use tape instead of caulk or weatherstripping. It's really just been a lot easier to build.

Of course it comes down to personal preference though, what works for me won't work for everyone. But in my experience the tent has been a much better option.

Stelthy - that cab looks very cool, is that reflector tin on the sides of the walls? Are you using CO2?

My space isn't that large, it's just that using the PVC frame I was really able to make the absolute most of the area that I had because I wasn't limited by the wood I was using to build it.
