Bubbleponics/DWC STRANGE PROBLEM

I am using the recipe for success nutes, When I look at the roots there are nearly a black slime on it. Looks like the nutes are sticking to the roots, the dark dark brown color in the thrive alive bottle is what it looks like. I am adding boost first then I add the rest to a cup and throw them all in together, is this wrong? Does anyone know why my roots are brown and have the nutes stickin to them? Res temps are good, adding 7ml H2o2/Gallon to my 8 gas res.

Thanks

DWC... ROOT SLIME! those pesky cyanobacteria cant be killed by h2o2... unless u use like a 5% solution which will kill your plants. use some beneficial microbes! i used great white or subculture M which got rid of the problem in several days... you should also consider investing in an aquarium chiller and a bigger airpump. change your airstones, those slime tend to clog up your stones

Hiya mate, this is one thing i never added to https://www.rollitup.org/dwc-bubbleponics/473122-dwc-information-thread-beginners-who.html, really i should of but like i said i am a bit unsure.
I used humic acid in my last grow and that was quite thick and black and it clung to the roots, but i found out this is right. and as i am typing this i am sure i have read some were that h202 is quite thick and does cling to the roots and make the nutrient mix a dark coulour. yer i think its oryt now i thinking about and typing this.

I also added humic acid to my clone dwc bucket and they went like a brown coulour, once i transplanted them and stop using the humic acid, the roots were starting to turn brownish just before i added humic acid, now they pearley white :)

Hope that helped. :)

:peace:

you will never get rid of it by changing nutrients... the problem is, those things LIKES oxygen. its not root rot which is caused by a lack of Oxygen. They cant be removed chemically... the only way to remove them is have predatory microbes like trichoderma/rhizopogon/mossae or whatever. you can tug on your roots gently and remove the dead ones.

Alot of "organic" nutes do that. It might not be cyanobacteria. Are the plants healthy, and growing properly?

um... i had this problem before and bought a solution i found online. Not sure what it was exactly but it works. I know that some of the shit they sell you that isnt ment to be weed nutes tend to do that. Thats why i always stick with what the pros on here recommend or something that has worked for me, I dont like change =)

either way adding beneficial microbes is healthy for your plants... especially when you give them organic nutes. plants cant use the nutrients without there. if ur running organics and you use beneficial microbes you will never get that slime problem, on top of that you plants are going to love it

hi jared...i also grow in a type of dwc system and this grow im currently doing i used the recipe for success kit and noticed similar problems the first week i went to the veg stage recipe...i think its the b-1 red thrive alive in the recipe...everything else in the kit is a chem nute and the b-1 has organics in it...my 2nd veg res i eliminated the b-1 red thrive alive, used a small percentage foliar feed of the b-1 green, and supplemented some chlorine into the water...the roots turned white in 2 days...after the problem seemed to have stopped, i stopped the chlorine treatment...bad idea...i could tell the dark gunky black shit was growing again...ive sinced switched back to lucas formula using GH nutes, and continue to add small chlorine dosages to the res once in between weekly res changes and things now look great

not only did i not like the gunky black slime problem i was getting with the recipe for success kit, but my pH was always all over the place and i ended up locking out P, K, Ca, & Mg...all at different times...the GH nutes keep my res pH very well balanced and the lucas formula takes away the deficiency problems i was having with the technaflora...when you look at the concentrations of minerals in the GH and the technaflora, the technaflora stuff requires using 5 bottles of shit for a less amount of minerals you get with the micro and bloom from GH

i had used GH previously with good results...i moved away from them on this grow because i was tired of the taste and smell it seemed to leave in all the strains i tried...i always flush for 1.5-2 weeks and could never get rid of it...im just hoping this time around it isnt as noticeable...i plan on flushing more than just the once before harvest
