Bubble Gum. 2nd Grow. 1st journal.

Hello all. As stated, this is my first journal. 3 months of proof that I, Lynchburgball, can produce some SICK bud. i'm germing 6 Bubble Gum seeds from Nirvana. I ordered Light warrior for soil; i'm just not ready for hydro. I'm gonna use the foxfarm treatment for veg and flower. it'll be nice being out of MG. i'll be using 6 42w CFL's (6000k) to veg and a 1000w hps for flowering (broke buddy sold it on the cheap).

just went to the store to buy my CFL reflectors and stuff. the seeds still haven't broken casing so i'm waiting on the actual garden part of this all. anyway, here are the set up pics for one of the vegging boxes.

suggestions are cool on this grow journal, if u want, but i'm not necessarily in need of anything...yet.

i'll keep postin.

just got my HPS. should i veg with it or just stay w/ the CFL's? 1000w. I could raise it up really high. I put the HPS on but I have the cfl setup ready to go too, so should i switch back? as of now the light is about 2ft above the plant and the soil surface temperature is around 86(ehhhh:?). but idk

I personally like flourescents for veg. I don't have much experience with cfls, but the tube flourescents do what I need. I'm probably going with sog, just keep'em small and flower a bunch.

i hear ya. can a 1000w ballast support a MH bulb???

p.s. did i tell ya'all how much i paid for this HID?

I'm pretty sure they have conversion bulbs. From what I understand with conversion bulbs they run at a slightly less wattage than the ballast. I would check out htgsupply.

can i use a lesser wattage bulb in a 1000w ballast, sayyyyy a 400w Metal Halide???? Please give me good news.

your ok with the cfls,are you going to throw them into quick flower to determine sex for clones,or are you takeing your chances of at least 4 females.but a thosand over three bushy plants will give you plenty of big buds still.

i honestly don't care how many females out of six i get if i get at least one. i have enough money, lighting (correct spectrum), and time to really put together a plant that will yield a total fuckload. this HPS is awesome though...soooooo red. the room looks orange when it's on. ha. i'm still a newb.

ok all, i'm going back to the CFL's to germ/veg. i've just read a lot lately of ppl using hps to veg & flower.

alot a people use hps to flower,if you want to use the 1000,do it they will grow real quick,just use the cfl in first 10 days or so,but ive seen alot of impressive grows doing hps right through.remember cfl are new growings been around for ages.

sooooo use cfl's for the first 10 days and then switch to 1000w HPS??

anyway, i have tons of CFL's now and i'm gonna work with them during veg for about a month and a half. i'm gonna add either a cage or netting to the top of the boxes to SCROG it up after a while. anyway, i'm gonna just use 4 x 42w (5800k) cfl's and 3 flo tubes (t-4) per box.

Here we go...just need to find some storage space to put all the shit my closet has it. Who needs clothes?? Goodwill?

3 outta 6 seeds have germ'ed and one has broken soil. she's a pale green. i'll add pics tomorrow. as of now i'm running 4 x 42w Cfl and 2 x 30w T4 Flo Tubes.

ummm OH YEA. i looked at my curing buds and after 3 days, they're still wet but the leaves are basically black while the bud is really light colored. hey i don't mind it. the contrast of black-ish hairs against crystally white bud is pretty cool. i hope it lasts the next 3 weeks of curing. pics of that too, why not?

i just think a softer light is needed in the first few days or so,then you can use hps,i was reading a book last night were all the grows were done hps right through,except during its early rooting,rosenthal states in one of his books that stetching done by hps is more genetic then light,and he cautions people do not put the light far away makeing it stretch,but that is one opinion,hope you get more.

6/6 seeds are now lil plants. bubble gum seeds are tight, i recommend them for the patient germinator.

BIG NEWS FOR ME: 3/6 seedlings were placed in soil only about 1cm deep, maybe more shallow. these plants now have very thick stems and are all outgrowing the other plants by a mile. from now on...i'm sprouting shallow.

pictures soon when they're respectable.
