Bubble Cloner Problems?? Exp'd Please Help!

I started my clones in this bubble cloner, they were put in on the 14th so it'll be 7 days tomorrow. I'm not seeing any growth at all and am pretty new to this....my past expiences with cloning have not gone well and I don't know wtf....in the water i put a very small amount of organic fish fert 3-1-1 and a small amount of rooting compound (gel).

Should I have added anything to the water, and is what I did add ok?

How long before I should expect to see roots?

Should the stems be in the water or just above the water, where they are getting wet from the bubbles surfacing?

Also i got what looks like a white powder on some of the leaves, is this a fungus or something...?

I should also mention that the plants were under 12/12 for about two and a half weeks when I took the clones....any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Are those stems submersed in water? I planned on making something like this, but always figured the steams of clones would be just above water line so bubbles are splashing at it and then roots would form and drop into the water.

Ya they are submerged....I dunno, maybe....thats why im asking to see whats up....if im doing this wrong

I find my clones that are taken from flowering plants do not root as readily or establish as quickly as clones that are taken from my vegging plants.

I don't use a bubble cloner, but that's my experience with the timing of cloning at least.

^^ My experience has been the same... taken in flower takes longer. The white powdery looking stuff sounds like powdery mildew. You can search here for solutions. there are different ones, but I've had good luck with Serenade. It's a bacteria that eats it (organic). I don't think it will do any serious damage right away, but you'll definitely want to be rid of it before flower - it's not something you'd want to smoke.

also keen to know. I always thought the bubbles should splash the roots and hence not be submerged, but I have seen a lot of pictures of cloners that look like they are indeed submerged.

Keen to build one, but have 80% success rates without one, so maybe I shouldnt bother!

I run anywhere from 1/4" to 2" out of the water. I don't add anything to my water at all. I do sometimes use rooting hormone. works with or with out. the roots work there way down to the water very fast. Don't know that having roots in the water would hurt so long as you have good air flow. lots o bubbles. I'm getting better with soil but when the bubbler is right on it's great water temp needs to be real close to 80f.

so do ya think throwing an aquarium heater in there to bring it up to eighty would be a good bet?

I use one in a 4 gal Rez. they hit 76f I think. all so tried to set the cloner on a large cardboard box with a hole cut in the top. put a 60w lamp in the box and sealed it up. lol didn't work, got to hot

So I use a bubble cloner but my res isnt quite as big in fact its just a sterilite shoebox container.... and i have 8 clones in it with 2 small pumps and 2 long airstones....

I do fine without a heater but warm water most definately speeds things up. keep the stems just out of the water, what ive found works is imagine the bubbles splashing the stems enough for water to keep dripping off the stems... if you can imagine what im saying, thats what i always go for.

If your gonna add anything make it superthrive or a basic flower nute. I see the nutrient you used has high nitrogen, your gonna want a flower nute for your cloner, dont ask why but i read it here on riu and it works for me.

And again, superthrive, superthrive, superthrive. It works wonders for me, I found it at home depot. I use it everytime i water anything, makes seeds explode like I swear I watched a root jet out after misted some seeds... Haha just kidding, but serioulsy like 3 days the seed was trying to shed its shell..

what more do you want? when you get it set it works.

so once again thanks for all the help.....I lowered the water about 1" below the stems, put an aquarium heater and raised the heat of the water to 76 degrees and low and behold...rooots!! These plants were somewhere around two to three weeks into flower when I took these clones and it has been 2 weeks since they were put into the bubbler....

great. I bet the next ones will go a little faster for you.

also, the reason for flowering nutes i believe would be the low nitrogen, nitrogen can inhibit root growth, so ive read.
a good flush or plain waterings before taking clones seems to help me but im still cloning in soil cups, works great just slowww.

ive been growing from seed for 3yrs cause i got sick of trying to clone,built my b cloners the same way and never had luck.assholes on a sure to grow video i watched said submurge the stem in water. i was planning on going this wk to purchase the ez cloner $270 but after reading this im gonna try the ones i made one more time.its the same principal the ez cloner never submerges stems just sprays on em all day

i have made the bubble system dont really care for it but it did work for me .. i used water and a few drops of humboldt root enhancer .put air stones in bottom of pan and filled with water..my stms were covered about 2 inches or more with water ...it seemed to take forever almost a month if i recall but once the roots started they grew fast.....prob i found if the top of the tray gets wet were u put in your clones dry it leaves will sit in the water even a lil water and rot quick ....im thinking i may pull it out and try somemore like i said it did work but seemed to take forever
