Broken Ph Meter... Need quick advice

Have been having huge ph swings the past week or so, well today i was adjusting my ph and realized that my probe was broken.

Dont really have any local hydro shops, the only simple ph test kits around measure 6.0 and above, what should i do, The girls are 1-2 weeks from going into flower.

For now you could use the test kit and just get it in the low 6's and order a new ph pen. As long as your in the low 6's you will be just fine till you get a new one.

Ya thats actually what i just did, just one of those ones that test 6-7.5, I just got it to a close 6 and then added another 1/2 tsp of ph down, normally that will take it to around 5.7-5.8.

When i checked my ph with the shitty test it tested as blue as it could, im just gonna take an estimate and guess it was atleast a good 9... Fuckin glad i figured it out today or they would have all surely died.!

Can you hit up an aquarium store for a cheap test kit with a wider range than the one you have until your new meter arrives?

Well i went to a couple pet/fish stores today, some of them had some cheap tests with a wide range, but they seemed like dinky little toys that took two hours to do a test.

I think im fucked with this shitty tester, i also dont really get paid for a week and cant order one till friday, Im gonna order some test strips off the internet till i can order a good digital meter again.

Any suggestions on a good sturdy meter, that doesnt have a shitty glass probe on the bottom?

Im willing to spend money, but not a ton of money... I just need a ph meter, i have a ppm/temperature meter.

I would like to try to spend no more then a hundred, but am willing to spend alittle more for better quality.

Hey MP,

I thought that we got your pH swings under control dude!!!??? What happened? How did you break your probe? Get a new pH mete ASAP, buddy.. We've talked in the past about the importance of a correct pH level. A lot of people seem to think that close enough is good enough. IT'S NOT!!! pH levels need to be exact. Especially when your plants are flowering. They need to be able to get as much of the nutes as possible. When your pH is out of whack, so to speak, they can not. They will more than likely uptake more of one nutrient than another.... Or the nutes will be locked out completely. This will affect growth, THC development, over all plant health, etc... None good..

I hope you're able to get a new meter soon, brutha.

Ya i try to keep it as close to 5.5 as possible, 5.4-5.8

Ya im not freakin out cause this shitty testing kit works enough for me to use till a new meter gets here.

Good news is since i adjusted the ph, the plants have grown a good 2 inches in the past 36 hours so they are starting to come back.

I appreciate all the help everyone.

Alright actually have some good news, Just read some reviews on the Milwaukee PH600, most of the reviews said it works great, pretty reliable, so for $28 including shipping i cant miss. I plan on buying a blue lab combo meter in a month or so, but it will be nice to keep the Milwaukee PH600 as a back up for future instances.
