Bought a RS microscope

So I went out a bought one of those 60x-100x handeheld microscopes from radioshack. I started looking at the plants right where they are and it's near impossible.

So i figured I could cut off the leaf near the top and check that out, it looks still like all the trichromes are milky. I was just wondering if I should take a piece of the bud and judge it on that or take the leaf like I did.

PS I got a quick peak at the bud in focus and it looks 25%75% amber/clear.

How can't I. The hairs all still white, except for the bottom tips. The trichromes are mostly cloudy with 1 or 2 amber colored.

They've had those there, the radioshack one isn't the greatest, well damn near impossible to hold to the plant and look through. But by taking off the leave and placing the scope over it you can clearly see the trichromes.

Agreed that little fucking eyepiece, everyone recommends that magnifying glass but I personally think it kind of sucks ass.. You have to like press it on the buds, and hold it there against it. Total pain in the ass.

I have found if you try to use the focus knob on those things your are SOL. set it to 60x and move in and out ,mainly in, until you get it focused. It will take time and practice but it may work for you.

I just bought the exact same think at R.S. I know what you mean about imposable to see the buds clearly, I'm taking mine back tomorrow, went on e bay and bought a 30X hand held with a light in it. If i have to will cut a leave off and look at that. Do have a 5X jewelers loupe that i used, but not strong enough. Wish I'm known they make them in 30X, before i bought this new one. Oh well

I took a sample yesterday, instead of messing with this thing any more, you see my white widow plants have been flowering for 9+ weeks and i still didn't know if they were ready to harvest. Took one big bud and put it in the microwave, then in a pipe i had for 30 years and smoked it. It got me so high
that all i wanted to do was go and lay down. Have more clones waiting to go in the flowering room.
First timer here (by learning)

Well in my experience every tool i have purchased from H.F. dosent last at all, cheap knock offs, i mean if your going to use it once and throw it away by all means go to H.F.

Remove the plastic bit if you keep hitting your buds, make sure the fan is off. Hold branch with left hand, move microscope in and out towards the bud, use the LED light as an aiming point.
