Hey Guys,
I'm back with my second grow, my last plant turned out pretty good. I used the same AG and ended up with a little less than an ounce of some good shit. Decided to do it right this time, this is what I'm working with...
1.250 Watt Metal Halide (Please don't tell me I'm using the wrong light, I am aware that HPS are the "best" for flowering. I am willing to sacrifice the 10% or so decrease in yield. Metal halides produce much more UVB, and UVB is directly related to the quality of the buds. Less yield, more resin production. I am not growing for weight, this is all for personal use.
2. 125 Watt Warm CFL for supplemental lighting.
3. AG Pro200 with two air-pumps each with their own air-stone.
4. Foxfarms grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom. As well as Botanicare cal-mag plus and their berry Sweet. Also Florakleen for flushes. I am following the foxfarms hydro feeding schedule (sort of) this is how my feeding went:
W1: Plain water
W2:1/4 strength
W3:1/2 strength
Flowering W1: (1/2 strength) + 1/2 tsp cal-mag + 2 tsp sweet
Flowering W2: (full strength) + 2 tsp sweet
Flowering W3: Repeat at full strength.
I will be alternating using the cal-mag plus every other week during flowering and I will be using the sweet throughout flowering. So far not a trace of nute burn.
5. Two small fans blowing on the MH at all times, as well as a large standing fan circulating air underneath the plant.
On to the plant:
I ordered two seeds, both feminized, a Dutch Passion Blue Moonshine and a Barney's Farm LSD. I decided on the BM first, LSD will be next.
She sprouted without any problems, transplanted successfully and i vegged her for 3 weeks. Her first hair was on September 17th. So as of now she is 5 days into flowering.
Room temps range from 70-85 degrees, and these temperatures will fall very soon due to the departure of this nasty texas heat. Hopefully I can get her nice and purple!
The LST has been LOTS of work, I can't imagine training lots of plants, I don't know how people have the time. I have been tying and re-tying daily since one week of veg. At first I bent her directly to the left, then started to train her up and to the back. (Pic) As of now I have about 11 tops, with one or two more that might make it up, only time will tell. This is my first time with serious genetics as well as my first time training.
There have no major problems, only minor hiccup was that is took 2 weeks to start flowering...she got a little bigger than I hoped but I ain't complaining!
A couple notes:
I NEVER check Ph, like ever. I use distilled water gallons and pour the nutes directly into the gallons and good to go. I don't know what it is but this plant as well as my last one never needed adjustment. So I don't even check anymore. If I notice a problem I will check, but look at her! I'm a lazy college student, so meh...
I'm shooting for a least a couple zones! let me know what you guys think, if it wasn't for this website I would know JACK SHIT.
Peace
