Black root my seeds

Hello, the roots of the 2 seeds I planted turned out to be black. Is there a problem?

If you had to ask I assume there is a problem. Roots are to be white. Any pictures?

are the shells black too? you might have drowned them...

My buddy's auto freebie did that this spring. Looked just like that till the day he threw it out two weeks later.

You should have skipped the soaking wet paper towel and just planted it directly into soil to begin with. There is absolutely no reason to bother germinating in paper towels. If the seed is going to sprout it will do it when planted directly into soil. I know people use the paper towel method but it's not necessary and those that do can't give you any legitimate reason for doing so.
