Black Domina doing the Bloombox shuffle

Well the time has come. It is time for another grow. I sourced some seeds from SensiSeeds. Amazing purchase and delivery, flawless and quick. Placed 6 seeds in paper towel on Suday afternoon. All six popped their cherries and into the starter cubes they go. I have so work to do to get the rest of things prepared, like firing up the Bloombox after almost a year of inoperation.

But I am so totlally pumped and excited about this grow. My last one was an awesome success. I'm still savouring the last from that harvest. Such is the desire for some new herb.

Enjoy and Walk on with me folks. I look forward to sharing.:peace:

Hey there. thanks for checking in. Well in my exuburance of trying to not water the babies too much I totally over did that and they all dried up. So, back to square one. No worries. If that's the worst that goes wrong, I'll be happy. I'll take some more seeds and give it a second shot here, and be a little more generous with the moisture. Humidity only 33% today. Thanks again for looking in. I'll be back. Walking on.

well, another six seeds into their chamber of papertowel and moisture. I decided that I would take three Top44 from seeds that produced my last batch (which is still amazing one year later!!) and three Black Domina. We're finally getting some decent weather and warmer temperatures. At least I might not have to warm up my garage where the Bloombox resides. I have a feeling I left getting new crop under way a little late. It's entirely possible that I will run out before the new crop is due. That would not be a pleasant sight!! LOL! I still have a pound of incredible cannabutter, thanks to fdd's guidance. I have been saving the primo buds from that first crop so they are still waiting for me. Every once in a while I sample a little. What an incredible success for a first time. I really was unbelievably lucky.

OT (off-topic) - I had an opportunity to travel to the mecca of bud (Mendocino county) and was fortunate enough to be offered some "trainwreck" - apparently authentic....I had read so much about it, listened to people swoon over it. I was unimpressed. It was a total body paralysis - like my head sitting on top of .... well something almost indescribable. Not my kinda stone at all. My top44 is slightly energizing and uplifting, a lifting euphoria. I guess maybe it suits me being active and busy and engaged. But I suppose that's what I'm really looking forward to. I'm always so jealous of fdd and his flavour of the week. So many different strains and opportunities.

Anyhow, sorta rambling but for now, we'll wait for the seeds to pop and get them into a suitable or say superior growing environment, and see what I can do this time around. Thanks for dropping by, I look forward to a fruitful few months here and some fun along the way. Cheers! Walk on!

well, 3 days gone by since putting the seeds into moist papertowel, in a sealed container, in the dark. All six seeds have been placed into soil. The three BD popped in just one day (Sat. - Sun). The other three, Top44 took an extra couple of days (Sat. - Tues.). All six had sprouted very healthy. I will get them started and transfer them to the BloomBox once they are well on their way. I will post some pics of the sprouts when there is something to see. Thanks again for checking in. Walk On!

hey there. time for a freakin update huh?! The seedling, all six....yipppeeee....are doing well. I need to get them into the BB and under my 200W CFL for 18-6. Or at least that is my plan. I'll post some pics once I have things organized. But just wanted to let all know that we're six for six right now, and looking good! Thanks for checking in...cheers!

well, here we are. T=0. BlackDomina(SensiSeeds) and Top44(WeedFarmer) popped and into 2 gal. pots under a 200W CFL. I raised them to this point in direct sunlight on a window sill. Got stretch but buried thne such that they are all sorta 1 1/2 - 2" exposed from the level soil. Soil is standard over the counter potting soil, smells great, light and fluffy. lights scheduled for 18-6. no nutes for the first bit. only water for now. Let's see how this goes. I'll take some better pics when there is something to see. Thanks for looking in. :peace:

and here we go. good luck been waiting to see a black domina grow.

i have 1 purple kush x black domina at the moment. vegged for 5 weeks switched to 12/12 at 18" tall 16 days ago. it is now 37" tall and branchy. she is getting big. i was really hoping for a male to cross it with but the 2 males i got i didnt like.1 was white russian and the other was a northern skunk. my only shot is 1 blueberry that hasnt sexed yet.

hey there. cool. BB x BD/K. prolly nuthin wrong with that cross, but I'm not well versed in that side of this hobby. I have a problem this morning with the lights out and no obvious reason why. fues and breakers all seem ok. power to the unit is fine. it just shut itself off. I've got a call into the tech support, so hopefully I can turn the energy back on to those girls! cheers! and thanks for dropping by.

well there ya go - I unplugged it for almost an hour, plugged it back in and presto....we have light. Girls are happy. ok ok, I know its early and I have absolutely no way of knowing they are girls....but....for now that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! hahahaha! I'm happy that things are now once again moving forward. The plants look very nice and green and healthy. I can'y find my temp.hum meter but it feels toasty and humid in there. Ambient is 17C and 35%RH. We have a gro going on. Cheers!

keep an eye on your light. sometimes when you start having problems, the bulb will go on and off every 5 or 10 min. usually its just a bad bulb and a new one will work. if thats not it then it could be a ballast component. always try a good bulb before troubleshooting a ballast.

:joint::joint::joint: thanks man. she's been good all day. I bought the 200w cfl last yr, used it for a bit and then shut down after my gro finished. I kept the 150w cfl as a spare, so when the 200 was out I tried the 150 - also didn't work. and the 400w HPS also didn't work in the next door flowering chamber. I was a little baffled. Glad that it was just some electronic glitch. But I take your advice and will be sure to keep a eye on it.

I took a couple of pics, the lighting is tough. I've only atached a couple of the BD. I like how they are looking. Cheers, and thanks for stopping by.:peace:

ok...so this morning. no lights again. Machine is all functioning properly. I'm thinking it must be the scheduled settings for lights on and lights off. I have now confirmed that this is the problem, and I have reinstated defaults of 18-6 and 12-12.....and off we go. Girls are looking really good. So this hurdle is past, and now we shall watch them grow. Cheers!:peace:

checking in again this morning, and all is as it should be. lights come on at 6am as scheduled and went out last night at midnight. I have some Alaskan fish fertilizer 5-2-2 that I used to start my last crop off. I thought I would try that again. The seedlings look to be doing well. Strong, and bright and green. I've attached some photos from this morning. The six together in the group photo are the three BD on the left and the three Top44 on the right. The BD are a little more robust looking, but they are also a little earlier than the top44. I should pick up a new temp/RH meter but so far so good.

Hi there. Just wanted to pop in & say hi. I too have a bloombox but am using mine DWC. I see you are using soil so I'm a bit confused LOL. I have had some trouble finding anyone on here that also uses Bloombox. I've met one other person so far. I am a lil over a month on my first grow..I know DWC on 1st grow??? LOL I'm making it though. If your planning to go DWC I'd like to follow your grow so for now subscribed. Seedlings look great;) MJ

hey there MJ. thanks for dropping on by. The BB was a choice I made cuz it seemed to be a sophisticated self contained system. I didn't want the hydroponic piece, and it sits in a closet for the time when I change my mind and want to try that. I like growing in soil. The BB offers the security, the light, the clean packaging, the CO2 and automation. I am not in a position to have a cobbled together grow room - the BB seemed like a good answer. And so far it has worked well. Might I do better with DWC? Maybe. But I like the results I'm getting so for now, its all good. I hope you have some better luck going forward. Reading your thread gives me a feeling of complexity. like some people have said, its a weed, give it light, water, and nutrients, and it'll grow. Sry, don't mean to make it sould overly simple cuz I know how thing can always go wrong, but simplifying your approach might help?

no really much to say except the seedlings are doing well and growing. there are no red flags so I'll just leave things as they are for now.

I have seen reference to height and # nodes before flowering. Can't remember anymore what the specifics were. I don't want to let them vege too long, I understand this will affect my yield but it is a trade off that I'm thinking I want to make. I have a limited allowable height and last time my grow challenged me with its continued growth in length. I have also seen reference to some fattening agents in final nutrient concoctions that halt the growth and add weight to colas? I used molasses and overdrive last time. Any thoughts, most appreciated!! :peace::peace::peace:

Hi Cavalino;) LOL>>>>>>I make my own self feel complexity sometime!! Tryin to reign that in though as I can't maintain that level of stress for any long amount of time.. Sounds like you have it all together though so that's great!! Hope your grow is everything you want it to be... I'll be watching! MJ

hey MJ thanks for dropping on by. this first bit is always a nail-biter. I have not grown the Black Domina before but heard lots of good about it. Mine ore SensiSeeds. Popped out of their seed casings with gusto. We'll see what that means down the road. I've also been giving consideration to Fem'd seeds - I really want to grow BlueMoonshine, as much for the name as for its reputation. Extra cash for greater certainty. I always remember someone telling me, the quality of ur genetics is important. For now, watch them grow and move them to flower as soon as reasonable to ensure I can manage their height better than last time. thanks again. cheers!
