Best way to use Gro-kashi?

I have some gro-kashi would I be correct in saying I sprinkle it on top of my soil along with something like bran flakes to feed the microbes and that should give me a nice thick layer of mycelium fungi?

Should I add straw mulch on top to keep everything below in the dark?

I use SIP’s but, I cover medium with Grokashi then wait 3-5 days until mat is formed then I add Barley, Crustacean meal, EWC
and compost. Yes I would cover with rice hulls or some type of mulch. Hope this helps...
