Best time to strip leaves?

Do you strip leaves for opening up bud sites before or after stretch? I've done it both ways non intentionally just kind of going with the flow but what do you feel is best?

Depends. Are you schwazzing them or just a general defoliate? I would take a leaf or two off every day or other day until your satisfied start with the obvious ones. Blocked bud sites (if in flower), any dead or bad ones and any that are touching the soil or overlapping and touching these can both cause mold and house pests.
