HM Digital has been great for me the last 2 yrs. Digital display, accurate ph readings, gives temp and you can calibrate it. The cap keeps the probe from drying out too. Best $45 I've spent in my room.

If you're serious about your grow, use serious instrumentation. Otherwise you're flying blind.

BlueLab combo meter. Yes, it's expensive. It's also dependable.

I agree. I've chased my tail more with a $20 pen than its worth.and I'm in dirt!!finally gave up on it,don't need it anyhow when using organics (I'm not going to argue with anyone about this lol)

I have only been growing for nearly 7 years now and the only ph pen I have ever used is the cheap and cheerful 1 that cost me £4.99 from ebay, I renew it every year or so. and I always and I mean always produce top quality smoke from it at ph 6.5 in soil. You know the saying... if it aint broke don't fix it lol. It seems to work for me, like natureboy said, I'm not gonna argue with anyone on here about it either. Got more important things to do like rolling a doobie :bigjoint:.

My last crop and my cheap and cheerful ph pen :hump:

hahaha that's the same pen I picked up!I did finally get it to read the same (most of time)I found that dipping it in distilled then letting it dry before I retested worked but was time consuming .now I just say fuck it.
edit nice look8ng plants btw!

You know that mate haha, its done the bizz for me. I have heard of people doing that dipping it in distilled water before using, I have also had people telling me that you have to calibrate the pen especially when you first buy it. I don't even do that hahaha, thank you mr post man straight out of the wrapper and I'm using it haha. I would like to just put it out there that I am not mocking anybody what so ever who use more expensive and much better ph pens out there. I am a very fussy person when it comes down to my bud and I don't like cutting corners but my ph pen that I use produces the goods for me every time :weed:.

yeah thanks, that was only 2 plants in 12 ltr pots, topped twice and trained a little. I bloody love my 250w hps lol

What pH pen do you use? My cheapo took a crap so I'm in the market.
what some of those other guys said about getting a good on is 100% on the nose

the trouble with PH pens is the senor on them is going to ware out with in 6-9 months (the readings they give will be all over the place and u will need to calibrate the pen every time before u use it because it will not hold true lvls anymore)

really the only good investment is one with a replaceable probe on it
u will pay little more for it but with in 2/3 years it pays for self in saving u cost of reordering pens and u wil have a easier way to read it (just walk in look at the box see it is in zone walk out ) u can just leave the probe in the mixxing cell (have the return water going over it and u will have a ph reading for the whole system
