best lights without a ballast?

I saw 50w hps lights in regular e26 sockets. Would that be better than a 200w cfl?
What's the best to get without a ballast?

I'm sure all HPs lamps need a ballast.

200 watts of cfl trumps 50 watts HPS.

Just get the right spectrum.

I would use the sun if I had no Ballast, or go with T-5s
