Best colour for dwc.

Hello fellow growers!
Im putting together my own dwc system atm (for the first time).

I have one Ghe black aerofarm that i have painted white. Im thinking white dosent absorb het as mutch as black tho i understand the roots need total darkness.

I have one 45liter tank for my expansion. Its just like a storage box(transparent) and now i have to paint it with something to make it both light proof and heat repelant. I really need some advice here on what colour to go with.

Clear plastic are typically very brittle and shatter easily. I'd use a black tote from the get go. White is fine to PAINT your stuff with, but your base should always be originally BLACK PLASTIC.

I use black plastic bucket and insulation.
Helps keeping the temp in range.

White buckets are best IF they are opaque and don't allow light inside. White because it reflects the most heat.

As MilanSisel said, the insulation is always a super option, a bit of work putting together but awesome.

They sell 12" rather than 16" wide x 50' rolls I noticed. This would make putting it on buckets Sooooo easy. Just one cut for the total length of going around the buckets diameter and that's it.

White or black they still absorb the same amount of heat from the air. The only difference is if your light is shining on the sides of the buckets where black would absorb more infrared heat from the light than white would. Most of us don't shine the light on the sides of our DWC tubs/pails so it's not an issue and the plants shade the tops once they get larger.

The colour of your reservoir has no bearing on how brittle the plastic is. The type and chemical composition of the plastic is what determines it's pliability or lack of. If insulation factor isn't a thing then anything that blocks the light will do.

A taller Rubbermaid tub holds 50+L and is what I use for DWC. A piece of white wall insulation tied on with baling wire worked great to insulate my tubs so my DIY chiller worked better. No problem keeping the nutes at 65 - 68F. Ain't pretty but did the job.

I would say white water temps stay 1-3 degrees cooler than my black buckets. And to be honest I haven't had any issues with my roots what's so ever. Healthy and white js I even had a red bucket in there lmao smh
