We covered this in a PM but I will throw this out there for others.
I love the Vortex VTX series fans. I have a bunch of 10 and 12's, never had one die, some going on 8 years and I bought some of them used.
The fans you linked are the same type as the VTX (centrifugal), I have a hydrofarm one (the green one) in 8 inch that I got used on CL and it's been going for a good 6+ years. Bearings are the big factor IMO, good ones last a long time. I would skip the speed control on the Amerifan, as I mentioned in the PM a variac is far superior.
Centrifugal fans will have better CFM in a real world application where you have static pressure in excess of 1.75 inches of h2o.
