bathroom fan question (Positioning)

Grow area size =40 cm x 40 cm x 120 cm
I have a 4 inch pc fan set at bottom flap ,for intake ,and I purchased a bathroom fan 4" that i want to place up as exhaust.
My question is ,how should I install it?Do I put it in the same way as in a bathroom?(squared grid on the inside of tent?) or do I have to reverse it ,with its cylindrical extension (that normally should go in the vent duct to the outside) on the inside of the tent? I tried putting a lit cigarette on both sides ....and both seem to suck air .....dunno why.
I 'm asking this because I have no meanings of venting directly outside ,so the air that comes out of the tent goes in the same room.I have my lights at night ....and ,as I sleep in the same room ,temps go up around 83 -84 degrees F (30 -31 C)

you should get rid of the intake fan for starters.....

the bathroom fan exhausts from the grill side.... put it at the top of the tent just like it would be in a bathroom, with the vent inside the tent and the box the fan sits in outside the tent.
really, though, get rid of the intake fan, that donest work like you would think, actually makes it worse! it would work better as a circulation fan for inside the tent, or move it up top for additional exhaust. your intakes should always be passive, unless your running a pressurized system..........

I use a bthroom fan to exhaust my large flower closet. I would do just like u said and use it to suck out the air from inside to out. you don't wanna create pressure inside the box.

it probably seems that the fan is sucking from both sides cuz the intake and exhaust side arent isolated by the installation in a ceiling. mine does the same thing until I hook a hose to it.

It may be ok to expel the air into the room as long as the room is cooled or large enough and u use a carbon filter. Dont buy one. Make your own. with a 4 " fan, you should be able to make a DIY filter using wire mesh pencil cups and activated carbon. there are many DIY threads one these and many are made with household items. U get act. carbon at walmart or any fish/aquarium store.

Hope this helps.

if you can close off the fan box it would work more efficiently but remember that the out tube from the fan is not that big but should be more then efficient for your set up 40 cm x 40 x 120 and i dont think you would need the small fan after. make a little box (out of card board if you want and tape to seal it).i used it a while ago when i was growing poppies i used a shoe box and dryer ducting connected to the wall but i reversed the wire so it would pull fresh air in and worked great too.hears and idea go back to where you got you fan and get a square ducting adapter (square on one end and round on the other) put that on the inside to close the surface gap to make it pull more air in that case you can leave the other side open or jimmy rig something.if you dont get what i am trying to say just look at a fan you would buy for growing(vortex) and look at yours and then try to make it look the same or at least work the same.

I 'm not into flowering yet ,but when the time comes ,I m gonna have to put a Carbon filter ,at least a DIY one. As I m not venting to the outside ,would it work if I were to put the filter outside the tent ,so the sucked air is blown into it ,inside the room? And if I put the fan I m using now as intake ,higher and closer to the bathroom fan....will it help sucking more hot air out ,or just be an obstacle for the bathroom fan to do its regular job?

here's some pics of what I did so far ,......is this right?

it looks good to me but if your cig.smoke is still entering both sides that means the fan is not properly sealed it needs entry chamber and exit chamber to direct the air flow usually the same size on both sides if the exit(exhaust) is too small it will blow it out the intake. looks good though!

you are right man.....the exhaust hole of the tent was larger than the fan's diameter....so it was blowing air on the outside but it didnt pull enough air from the inside......I placed the cooler i had for intake, in its place and now the temps have DRASTICALLY gone down.thanx again for helping
