bathroom fan exhaust? I'm blanking...

Hope everyone is nice and stoned this morning, sadly I have had classes since 8am and am about to leave again.

Before that though, I need to get an answer to something taht I have been researching and asking about for a while now. My exhaust situation in my grow closet can't be any good. I don't say this because it doesn't work, I say this because I just don't think it is.

(There are pictures of the closet and the set up in my grow journal in my signature if you want to look at pictures to help you help me!)

The closet is 22" x 55.5" x 8'

Now, I am only using half of the closet currently, and I think that I may want to make that permanent.

I currently have an 80cfm 4" axial fan as an exhaust from a 22" x20" x4' box that I made to do dark cycles in. That is not my only exhaust though.

At the top of the 8' closet I have a 500cfm 8" axial fan pulling through a DIY carbon filter. Now, the filter SHOULD work. I followed other designs very closely and made a very nice one. The thing is that I am not even sure if my air is getting up to the fan. I can't feel any pressure pulling from the bottom of the carbon filter, but up in the attic it is not overheating, struggling, or slowing down much at all.

You see in those pics that I have kind of a shelf set up at 4'. This is what I Hang everything from. I think that if I moved that entire 8" and filter deal down and mounted it to the shelf instead it would work well. You agree?

I guess I would just run ducting up to the attic from there.

Is this going to be enough for the grow that I am doing? I am only on day 7 so I obviously have no smell to test it all with. I just want to be prepared going into flowering and smell time. That being said, I can't spend too much money. I spent too much on this set up as is. I tend to be an impulsive buyer, and I over buy, and never return.

If there is no way that this setup is going to work then I will take the fans back and some other returnable spare stuff and buy a proper centrifugal exhaust fan.

Also, is there any chance that I could use a bathroom fan to pull through a carbon filter? They tend to be a little cheaper than the commercially made exhaust fans. It could be a terrible idea, I have no clue, hence why I ask. I searched all over and never found any trace of someone using a bathroom exhaust fan for exhaust and also with a carbon filter.

So, all in all, I am asking this:

- Is my current set-up going to function effectively as far as exhaust and scent goes?

- If no, could I move the system down to the 4' shelf and that would solve my issues?

- Would a bath fan be able to pull through a filter?

- Finally, is it going to work at all? If it won't function I will return everything and find a good fan.

Thanks guys!

I have a shit ton of pictures in the link to my grow journal in my signature. I mentioned that in the OP =P

I suppose I can track down some urls and post them here though.

4" exhaust fan for the box

8" exhaust fan on the 8' closet ceiling. It is not shown with the carbon filter attached.

Empty grow area

small side nook

Box I made to fit in said nook

Shelf to hang the lighting off of, which I think may be a part of the issue with the exhaust, could be trapping too much air down

There we go.
