ballast/ hood question

Hey there, I'm researching the best wattage set up for my situation and have a few lines on some really cheap ballasts and hoods, sold separately. can any hood be used with any ballast? or do i need to get the same wattage as the ballast... the ballast is going to end up being 1000w for hopefully about $60 and the hood could be about the same, but the wattage wasn't listed on it...

Any insight would be helpful...

most hoods can be used regardless of the wattage,the power cord is the key,to make sure it's rated for the light you want to use.

as long as you can mount the socket set in the hood you can use it.
