Average Autoflower outdoor yields for 5 g smart pots or smart pots in general?

Hey everybody, I have seen some threads on RIU about autoflower yields, but I'm asking for specific circumstances here. I'm in California and will be perfect weather for it, but I have never grown outdoor in my life, I just had my first CFL experience, and it was high quality, but I did not yield like I wished I had. But, I did not use smart pots and I hear that REALLY increases yield. If anybody has any experience with smart pots, yield, or outdoor autoflowers, PLEASE post your hearts out! I'm looking for many experiences/proof that I can have a decent yield before I put in all the hard work again. I only yielded a half o off a plant w/ CFL...it is DANK, but I'm looking to pull at least like an o per plant...is this possible? I would be using FFOF w/ perlite about 75/25 and going completely organic w/ Liquid Karma, Big Bloom and CalMag. Maybe throw in some molasses at the end. Hopefully I'll get an air pump and be able to get my tap water bubbling as that is really my only way to grow as I can't afford REAL water . I will be keeping an eye on pH and what not as well. Looking forward to some pics/stories! :peace:

I grew in smartpots last summer. Its the only way to go . I grew 5 syrup auto's and averaged 3 ounces per. Just remember in the heat you will have to water a lot probably daily and if you get hot windy days probably 2 times a day.

DANG! Were they 5 gallon or smaller? I want 5 gallon, but may have to be stealthy with this haha. Does 3 to 5 gal smartpots make a big difference? Thanks for responding!

For auto's the bigger the better. You'll do just fine with a 3G but using a 5G instead is going to increase your yield. From what I see around here, under optimal conditions, you can pull 3-4 (maybe 5?) oz's from an auto grown in a 5G. (Those grow were AKR though)

Alright, looks like I'm going with the 5 gal! How tall do you think these suckers will get outdoors? Any estimate would help. Like are we talkin' above fence height? Or pretty manageable height? like 2-3 ft? Thanks for all the help. Just got to decide if its worth doin' this thing in the backyard and riskin' neighbors, or if I'll have to find somewhere else. If I LST I imagine I could keep it low enough to the ground to not look too suspicious right? Or is LST outdoors not good? If I built a little cage around it and had it climb around maybe it wouldn't look like weed? I've heard of people cutting the tips of all fan leaves as they grow to allow light into the center of the plant, and apparently it makes it so it doesn't really have a marijuana appearance(IE no standard 5 or 6 pointed leaves). It just looks all raggly and bushy. If I hit the ladies w/ neem early I should be fine with bugs right? Just had a bout w/ spider mites. Not fun :-|. If I could yield 3 oz on a plant I'd be STOKED!!! Just seems a lil' too good to be true haha, but I'm doin' this thing!

Not sure what strain your going to be growing but I couldn't imagine your plants getting too big, I mean, They're automatics. They're small by nature. I doubt they'd reach 3 feet at most.

Hopefully this can go down! I'll use the height as a pro for why I should be allowed! That is maneagable, but I do have nosy Conservative neighbors. I'm mostly worried about a neighbor calling the cops for smell or something and having the feds come out. What would happen if I had my med card and they came and busted me? Would they most likely just let me go?

I couldn't answer that. You'd be best looking up your local laws or checking out the Medical Section here on RIU. I'm sure the members that frequent those sub forums will be able to answer that for you.

Well county law says I'm allowed six so I will be fine with one or two I think. I just don't want my dad to get in trouble for owning the property. They shouldn't give me troubles w/ my card, though. We'll see! Thanks for the help Amaximus

Just relax. You are LEGALY allowed to grow 6 Mature plants and 12 immature plants. The Feds aren't going to knock down your door.

Just to kind of piggy your question, but maybe get more yield for you & I both...

Quick question regarding the Uncle Ben Technique & an Outdoor Auto…Since it takes sometimes 100-120 days to finish with the lack of 18+ hours of light, can't the Uncle Ben Tech be applied and the auto have enough time to recover?

Gonna make an experimental run with some Auto AK47's myself, but wanna hear from RIU first...

In response to your question, I believe the answer is yes, it will have enough time to recover. I have not seen anybody's results with topping outdoors, but I was definitely going to try it with my auto. At around week 2 I was going to try to FIM it, because that is when they naturally start to flower. If you decide to give it a shot, let me know! Cheers! :leaf:
