Auto seeds?

Trying to cut down on grow time and a buddy is trying some auto seeds and says they grow extremely fast. Showed me pictures at 4 weeks and already a foot tall and showing signs of flower already. They are outdoors. I was thinking of starting some indoors but was wondering if they will yield like the current plants I have or not. Are these worth growing or are they like a quick, low yielding plant? Seems awful quick but how much can they really produce with LST and the full regiment of nutes?

From my experience they don't finish any quicker than photoperiod plants. You could flower photoperiod plants after a month and get the same results.

My quickest auto finished seed to harvest in 90 days and yielded 6.6 oz. I didn't weigh any others but they all went longer and probably yielded around the same.

People are of different intelligences. To me, autoflower means automatically enters flowering stage on it's own when it is genetically ready. There is nothing in the word "autoflower" that suggests faster than normal. There just seem to be a bigger number of stupid growers that make up their own facts like autos are supposed to be faster than photo plants.

I agree. The OP was thinking he could cut down growing time by growing autoflowers.

I also agree with the above. If you're already growing photos indoors, I'd stick with them. Auto's aren't faster, just convenient for certain situations.
I grow autos solely because they allow me to drop a couple seeds every month in the same room and then harvest a couple plants per month.
When I get off my ass and get a Round Tuit, that'll change. bongsmilie

Autos dont go any faster than photos. I had an auto in flower for 13 weeks until it was done. I have photos that were done in 10 weeks.

Speed is strain and phenotype dependent

Go to a good seed bank that gives good full descriptions of the seed, strain info, a expected grow time and possible yield. North Atlantic Seeds. Do some research and you will find strains that grow a little faster than ethers. For example I bought Tangerine Dream auto's that claim 80 days seed to harvest, while Girl Scout Cookies show 70 days just flowering. Dos Si Dos 70 -75 days start to finish, Critical Purple auto, 11 weeks flowering. You will see in the descriptions info on what you can expect each plant to yield also. Sweet Seeds has a large selection of what they call fast versions. They are supposed to grow and finish faster. Most people tell me the fast versions might save you a week and estimates are usually off and it will take a little longer, but you can at least get into the strains with lower time frames and be in the ballpark. I'm to new to be of any real help, but as a newbie I know the best way to find out is to experiment with different strains till you find one you like and grow enough to last from one grow to the next. The weed game is full of Champaign wishes and Caviar Dreams, don't get sucked into the hype cause at the end of the day you can't fool mother nature.
