I've read a lot about possible penalties if imported seeds are found by customs; such as a letter indicating they've been found and can be collected if proven to be legitimate for research.
However, has anyone actually experienced what happens? Official information suggests the penalties can be quite high, upwards of $50K fines and jail time.
For research purposes I'd like to know what really happens.
