Attic Grow Plans...Need Advice...

Planning a grow room build in an attic.

Dimensions:
11 feet long x 11 feet wide
Peak is 6 feet, then 4 feet on either side. Figure table will have to be in the middle to take advantage of hieght.

Trying to think this out to utilize the potential of the space the best way possible before I start the build. I want to grow 6-9 plants. So either a 400w or 600w HPS. (Suggestions for this size room and desired crop?)

What size should I make the room/rooms? (If you think two? one for veg and one flowering). The dimensions I gave are one giant room that I can split to however I want. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I think that I want the light hanging from the peak of the cealing...

Like this sort of:

........_.......
....../H\......
..../.....\....
.../.......\...
...I.........I...
...I.........I...
...I_____I...

The red "H" is the light.

So just a table in the center of the room going down the center length ways.
How large should I make the "room" inside the 11x11 to house this table and light set up? I have been reading that a 600w will give me much more yield then the 400W. But is it overkill for 6-9 plants? The space can be however large I need it.

600W covers a 4'x4' area which can take 8 plants no problem, definitely use the rest of your area for veg. Your light wants to be on chains/easy rollers so you can drop it down nearer the plants, I don't know if you actually meant to suggest that is was going to be as high as possible or just couldn't be bothered to add the chains in your diagram but I thought I'd mention just in case.

Im thinking more and more that the 600W is the way to go.
But how will I do temperature control for both a flowering and veg room (each are inside the 11 x 11 room). How can I seperate those rooms but still have the temp be able to be controlled by a SINGLE portable AC & Heater unit (not two for each room). Since the lights will be on seperate scheduals im worried that the temps will be different and hence needing two seperate temp control devices (AC/Heater). Because my house gets cold as hell in the winter and hot in summer. The 11x11 is getting insulated like crazy.

Where should the portable A/C & Heat unit? It wont fit in the actual 4x4 flowering room will it. But thats where the temp matters....???

You could make the flowering room bigger than 4x4 but only enough to fit the a/c unit or you'll waste light. As you say, the temp in veg won't get too high so you could use the a/c just for flowering and use a separate heater in the winter for the veg room if possible.

If I keep the 11 x 10 (not 11 x 11 like I said earlier) room to a certain temp w/the AC & Heat unit and have the veg and flowering room both in that room but with some kind of thin walls for those rooms (no insulation for those just for the 11 x 10 room) will the temp be about right for both rooms or will the light scheduales reallly change each of the rooms temp that much?

Ok so whats the ideal size room for a 600W light?
The demensions are (again) are:

Dimensions:
11 feet long x 11 feet wide
Peak is 6 feet, then 4 feet on either side. Figure table will have to be in the middle to take advantage of hieght.

What size room should I frame in that area for a 600W light

If you do a search for attic grows you will see a bit of what I am doing with my new attic grow.

I am taking a space thats was 20x20 with a peaked ceiling and doiing the following.

Building a main room with 2 4x4 flower rooms, 1 2.5x6 veg room and 1 2.5x6 dry room

I will be cooling and co2 enriching the main room and will have passive intakes into the veg, flower and dry rooms. The air will be pumped back into teh main room thru scrubbers with 265cfm fans and carbon scrubbers.

Its a quick explanation but does that help a bit?
