Are we drying this correctly?

We harvested one plant middle to end of last week.after cutting the buds up,they were put into a dark closet on hangers.I then put a fan blowing towards the closet about 4 ft away.both doors are only cracked but when you put your hand outside the door opposite from where the fan is blowing. You can feel air slowly pushing through there. The temp in the closet stays around 69 degrees and humidity30-35% the 1st batch felt dry on just the outside of bud in 3 days.I then put it into airtight jars.I dont want to dry too much too fast.everyday i open the jars and rearrange buds and leave jar open for a half hr. twice a day.sometimes dumping it out on paper then putting it back and sealing. Then place it back in closet.A friend told us we didnt dry it enough and we are gonna ruin it.My understanding is the slower the better. It still has some hay smell but the good smell is slowly coming back.the main cola we will dry in closet a lil' longer than the rest.Any suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks.

3 days seems a bit short to me. im not the most experienced grower, but i did something similar and thought the bud was dried fine until about 2 weeks late budrot came from the inside of bigger buds and i had to quickdry about an ounce to get rid of the bud. it was still very smokable but didnt burn so nice and i can image quite a bit of quality and yield was lost

did the stems snap or bend when you put them in the jars?

3 days is a little short. usually you want to go for like 5 days. they may seem a bit crispy on the outside but the moisture from the inside of the buds will even out after being left in the jar for a couple hours.

I go about 4 days, I don't like to wait for the stem to snap. I prefer a slower dry, and a good cure. So if you went with a 3 day hang dry, keep on the Burp, maybe even 3xs a day.

Ok ... your humidity level is far too low.. you should have it between 45-65% humidity ..
I keep my drying room at 50%RH ... and the temperature in the room at 64.4..that would be 18 celsius...
with this set up... i keep my biggest colas drying for minimum 8 DAYS - 10 DAYS... and make sure the branches snap and crack when i bend them..... Curing for a long time is VERY IMPORTANT yes... but not when your weed hasnt dried yet... all these people telling you to dry it for 3 days or 5 days and cure long... sorry but its bullshit anyone who has been growing for long and tryed different things.. not just stuck to their good ol First or seconde timer method... will tell you to dry it real well, then cure it... no matter how dry your weed seems, even when branches crack and snap they still have moisture in em which will come out as it cures in a jar.....
Make sure you open the jar not 30 minutes in one go but a more like 6 times 5 minutes in a day or 3 times 5 minutes in a day ...
do this and youll be getting the most out of your grow....
till then..
keep it green in love and LIGHT IT UP

Some people misunderstand the concept of curing. It is meant to take the small remaining amounts of moisture and redistribute it evenly among the buds that are in the same container. In this way (in the controlled envoirnment of a sealed container) all the buds are drying at the same rate. Larger buds share their moisture with smaller buds that are drier. Early on in the curing process I completely remove the buds from the jars and let them sit out for about 10 mins before placing them back in the sealed jar. I do this 3-5 times per day. After a week of that I go to burping and checking always rolling the jars to make sure the buds are not locked into each other and can freely move about. This seems to work well for me, but I am old and not in a hurry.

You guys rock! Thanks for all the input on this very important subject.
Ok the general consesus here is to keep drying longer. The stems would still fold over without breaking so back in the closet they go.I know alot of the problem is the humidity.I put all the buds on cardboard on the closet floor and put wet(rung out) towels hanging in there.I also put some containers with water in the room outside the closet where the fan is forcing air from.In an hour or so the humidity went from 31% to 51%.an hour later it leveled out at 50%.Temp is 70.slight air movement. we are going to get a small humidifier tomorrow to resolve that problem. Mary(plant 2) is on the choppin block next
Her stalk seems to have two main stems starting at the bottom,so she has two big colas.heres a couple pics of her beautifulness:leaf:
Huge Thanks for everyones help:weed:

Thanks for the educational comment.....
Is that not the most obvious thing in the world though.... bigger buds will take longer to dry... that is why i mentioned MY BIGGEST colas take about 8-10 days....... Obviously if your growing shit, and your buds are light as a feather and not filled like a rock... Itll dry in 2-3 days... with humidity levels like trichopathic has.... anything will seem dry in 3 days... so before you come and tell me to go back to studying..... why dont you check up on your drying room temp and humidity.... As often as you check your growing rooms temp and humidity ..... and youll see that pretty much any bud ( within logical size) Not the kind of bud where your trying to win a size contest and give it a 10000 different harvest boosters ....... itll take 8-10 days.....
by the way ... little tommy your little article is the most intelligent one on this post.....
whatever any of you think.. and no matter what your method.... the most patient one will have the MOST out of his harvest....
till then keep it green in love and LIGHT ONE UP .....

Ok were still letting Mary go,her lower buds are ripened right up ,but there is still growth on the main cola going on so were lettin' her go.thinkin of cutting the lower done buds off and let the rest keep going. We are also gonna reveg her to try to get clones if possible.
Jane after 2 more days drying with the humidity a lil' higher.started to get overdry.a touch..we ended up with about 50 grams after some test samples.I thought we'd get 2 zips but were just under.still pretty nice for only a couple seeds chucked in some soil with about 8 cfl's(375 watts?)on em and some TLC.:weed:Yellerz did these girls good! Its very smooth, fruity, hint of skunkines and will sneak up and choke your ass kinda smoke! Very energetic ,wanna build some shit or do something kinda buzz!:bigjoint:
P.S the main cola that was 35 grams ended up 8.9 grams.over 75 % weight lose. Thanks for the help guys! I'll post more pics of mary soon:peace:
